Sponsoring Children Overseas

Has anyone sponsored a child overseas? I have talked with a couple of people over the past year, who were educated and looked after because some folks, who they may never met, provided funding through World Vision.

I sponsored a child through Children International until the child moved away and they lost track of him.

We did that for many years through REACH International. We sponsored 3 different boys in India, one of them through a year of college. It seems to cost less than other sponsorship programs, just $20 per month.

World Vision is active in my area in the Philippines. We felt it would be better to sponsor children in academy, that's why we started our ministry. My wife and I have sponsored many.

That's good to know. When I first started I sponsored a boy from South America and it only cost around $24 a month. As the years have gone by its gotten up to $32 now. Plus I've added $8 for the Aids program, so I'm paying $40 now. Right now I'm sponsoring a girl in Africa. I get to write back and forth with her and they send me updates of her.
