Most people don't read beyond the sun will be darkened and the stars will fall. But there's that extra bit in Matthew 24, "and the heavenly bodies will be shaken" at the very end of verse 29 that caught my attention. How can the heavenly bodies be shaken? There's a scientific explanation called "starquakes" that tells about how certain neutron stars can actually be shaken. Bravus can probably give a good explanation of how it happens. It's a common Old Testament imagery for God's approaching judgment. The past judgments of God are intensified during the end-times, so that we might well expect a literal fulfillment of those signs. The point is that everything that can be shaken will be shaken, not only on earth but in the heavens. It's God's way of trying to warn people about the imminent judgments. Today, tragically, a lot of people, including some Adventists, make light of these signs. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
