Graeme I don't mean to praise Olger ... believe me ... but I don't think Obama's knowledge is much different ... they both spead evenly. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Stan Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Why such inflammatory statement have to be said about Bush and Obama.. is beyond me... Too often statements can be said in a much more cultured way... Just my opinion.. Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Woody Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Why such inflammatory statement have to be said about Bush and Obama.. is beyond me... Too often statements can be said in a much more cultured way... Just my opinion.. Do you mean we should just come out and say what we mean? Like when the Bush bashers called Bush a liar and a murderer? I just find it interesting that some are coming out and complaining now ... where were they when Bush was being so viciously attacked. What short memories we all have. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Dr. Shane Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Bush is yesterday's news and some people still can't pass up the opportunity to bash him. That tells us a lot more about the critics of Bush than it tells us about the former President. As far as bashing the current President, I don't think we should be inflammatory. He is the President so he is a legitimate target of criticism but I don't think anyone needs to be vicious about it. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Planey Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I gather from this comment ("yesterday's news") that moving from office is akin to dying (ie "don't speak ill of the dead"). I will bear this in mind the next time I read comments about Reagan, Clinton, George Herbert Bush, Nixon, etc etc etc. Which I feel constrained to point out happens a lot on CA. Usually when trying to justify actions by the incumbent Pres - eg "well what about what <insert name of previous Pres> did? This is nowhere near as bad". Physician heal thyself. Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Dr. Shane Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 When what a former President did is relevant to a discussion it is completely appropriate to bring that President into the discussion. For example: when we were talking about the warrantless wire taps the GW did I brought up the fact that both Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton did them too. That was relevant. However when someone was criticizing President Bush for starting a war with Iraq, it would have been uncalled for if someone stated that at least he wasn't doing interns in his office. President Clinton's sexual indescretions have nothing to do with defense policies of the Bush Administration. In this thread we had a member post a crude picture expressing their thoughts about Obama's economic policies. Then we had another member make a crude comment about President Bush's intellect. First of all, two wrongs don't make a right. Secondly, Bush's intellect, or lack of, has nothing to do with Obama's economic policies. The comment simply showed the pent-up bitterness that is felt toward the former President that remains unresolved even after Obama has been elected. The comment told us nothing about the former President with degrees from both Harvard and Yale. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Planey Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 OK, thanks Shane. I will depend on you to inform me if a reference I make to a former POTUSA is relevant or not. Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Woody Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I'm so glad that so many of you are so knowledgeable on so many subjects. It helps me, the one with limited knowledge, to learn a lot! Please help us know where we stand Dottie. Would you please make a list of those who you view as 'knowledgeable' starting with the most to the least. I ask this with fear and trembling but with 'half my brain tied behind my back'. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 You have "a brain tied behind your back"? Well no wonder you are not articulating well....I suggest that you try not to multitask with your brain and type on C/A..... Woody Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Okay. Let's be specific now. The spreading includes millions of dollars to study the smell of swine. Millions of dollars to study crickets. Millions of dollars to study the DNA of catfish in Alabama. I prefer the smell of swine .... Please would some on the left side tell me how it is that during good times my local library is not able to expand services. But during tough times when we should be tightening our belts ... Obama passes out our hard earned borrowed money from China and we can do whatever we want. Obama is spreading the wealth and in my opinion totally wasting it on catfish DNA and smelly swine. Folks ... this smells. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 According to some commentators, the amount of pork that went into the last bill was about the same amount for republican and democrats. IOWs, republicans and democrats got the same amount of pork spending.... But there are fewer republicans for the same amount of money....And these are the ones who put the pork in, and these are the same ones who are howling the most.... You are right, Redwood...something smells here... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Woody Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Sorry. The 'smell of swine' just does not pass the smell test during these hard economic times. Obama is sure spreading it thick. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Sorry. The 'smell of swine' just does not pass the smell test during these hard economic times. Obama is sure spreading it thick. Hmmmmm.....Nose plugged up too, eh? Sorry, it's your Republican friends who are spreading it thick....lots of $$$$$$$$$$ per Republican congressperson/Senator... as compared to demo who are more numerous but mangaged to spend the same amount. Results- Repub spread the pig pork manure thicker than the demos. Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
