Key Guy Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 From the Southern Oregon Mail Tribune http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090304/NEWS/903040325 "Vandals struck the Rogue Valley Adventist School over the weekend, breaking windows and damaging musical instruments, art supplies and other items, as well as ransacking parked cars, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office reported. The vandalism, burglary and thefts were discovered Sunday around 7 p.m. by a music teacher arriving for an evening lesson, sheriff's Lt. Rich Fogarty said. The teacher reported the school had hosted a talent show that ended at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, so the damage had happened between Saturday and Sunday evenings. Evidence indicates a group of people came on the school property at 3675 S. Stage Road and broke windows in the school building and an unoccupied house on the grounds, entering the buildings to steal and scatter possessions, Fogarty said. The vandals also smashed windows of cars parked at the school, tried to start them and stole several car batteries. Inside the school, the vandals scattered food from the cafeteria, dumped out paint and damaged several brass instruments, including a French horn and a trumpet, Fogarty said. Art supplies and other personal items were taken from the school. Some of the things were found in the empty house on the school grounds. In all, the loss from theft and damage was estimated in excess of $4,000. "This school can't sustain that right now, no school can," Fogarty said. The school provides prekindergarten through high school education in the Seventh-day Adventist tradition. Its Web site reports it had about 130 students this fall. Investigators ask that anyone with information about the case call the sheriff's office at 774-6800 or the department's tip line at 774-8333. Tips also can be given through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-3-DETECT." Quote
