Small Church, Immense Love - Seeking Help

Hey guys,

My name is Mak. I was feeling alone and cold in my heart, and one day I just got up and drove to a local Spanish SDA church in Gainesville. As I arrived, I was in shock of how many cars were parked outside of this church and how small it truly is. I realized that even though the church was so small, the love that dwells in it since they day I arrived till now is immense. That day changed my life, and ever since then I have enjoyed everyday feeling love in my heart for my Creator.

The Gainesville Spanish SDA church really needs our help, in prayer and in donations. So I’m here asking you today, to do whatever it is in your power to help us. We are trying to meet our deadline which is March 14th, to raise $100,000, so that we may start construction on a larger sized church.

If this is God’s will, then there is no reason that we will not meet this deadline. I thank all of you in advance who are able to contribute anything, a prayer, one dollar, telling a friend, posting this on another forum, anything to helping us meet our goal.

Thank you for sharing your testimony GMAK.

In NO way to I want to smash your excitement ... BUT:

I have seen how going from a small united tight nit group ... to a large church can be. First you fight about the color of the carpet and then you develop clics and division.

Nowadays ... churches are downsizing and planting small churches. Those who study church growth have found that when you reach around 200 that you need to go and church plant and keep that united small group feeling.

Perhaps rather than a new building ... you need to go somewhere else and start up a new church group.

Just an idea to consider. Russell Burrill has some good books on church evangelism and church growth.

Best to study it before jumping into new mega buildings.

But, I will be praying for you and the decision of your church.
