Moderators Bravus Posted March 9, 2009 Moderators Posted March 9, 2009 We've defined what 'bumping' means in the forum context pretty clearly in the relevant thread. What Stan is saying here is what I said there: it's annoying unless it's used very sparingly indeed. The only time a thread needs bumping is when it has sunk several pages and when it's still vital, relevant and interesting. And those two things don't usually coincide: without being too harsh about it, if a thread sinks it's usually because there aren't enough people interested in it to keep it afloat. And that won't change just because someone keeps bumping it. So, maybe a bump a week, or more likely a bump a month, is justified. Beyond that - just try to create threads that you think will be inherently interesting to a lot of people here. Quote Truth is important
Cosmin M. Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Aha, I see. But.. It would have been nicer is a bump a day would keep the annoyed away. Quote
GreatLakesGramma Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 It isn't really very nice to open a thread because there is something new on it, wait for it to load, then find there is nothing new there worth reading. GreatLakesGramma Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Even teasing and kidding around is more worth the wait than "Bump." Everything doesn't have to be serious.
