Stan Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Thin folks at all you can eat buffets. Was at one yesterday, I observed that. Administrators Gail Posted March 26, 2009 Administrators Posted March 26, 2009 They do go, but they pile their plates differently, I've noticed. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members phkrause Posted March 26, 2009 Members Posted March 26, 2009 My favorite place, if I go to a all you can eat, is the Sweet Tomato, when I visit my mom in Florida. I'm not over weight nor thin, but like you dgrimm I pile up the salad stuff, get pizza, soup, ice cream (I think its yogurt), no meat (they don't do hamburgers, steak, chicken) I think they do have bacon, etc. I take nothing with those items in it. But load up on everything else. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
jlbyrd Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 If you go to a buffet, you know you're going to overeat, continually telling yourself "I'm just getting my money's worth!" I try to avoid them as best I can. Although I am a sucker for the Pizza Hut buffet :) Quote www.reviewandherald.tumblr.com
carolaa Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 So, Stan, if YOU were at the buffet, then that means..... Quote
Stan Posted March 26, 2009 Author Posted March 26, 2009 It means, that even though I am "thick" I felt thin there... Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Administrators Gail Posted March 26, 2009 Administrators Posted March 26, 2009 Was this a Canadian buffet or an American one? I've heard people say, people from both sides of the border, that Americans tend to be heavier. I think there is a difference in the types of food served but I could be wrong. I just don't go enough to know. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Beryl Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 And feeling thin really does something for a person's self esteem! Beryl Quote "Grace is God doing for us, in us and through us that which He requires of us but which is impossible for us to do in or for ourselves." But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor. 12:9.
Administrators Gail Posted March 26, 2009 Administrators Posted March 26, 2009 HEY GAIL IS THERE a difference in Canadian food bars and U.S.A. food bars???? I'd love to know! I'd like to know if it is the food itself that is high in caloric content or if it's just the appetites in the States that are larger, or if it is the tendency of the food choices that makes the difference. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted March 26, 2009 Administrators Posted March 26, 2009 For instance- Iced tea at McDonald's is NOT the same as we have up here. A coworker of mine told me that she bought a Greek salad in the mid-States and got a plate of iceberg lettuce with a couple slices of cucumber, some tomato and a bit of cheese. Greek salad up here has no lettuce at all. Do we eat more salad up here and you eat more cheesy stuff? What are the factors that make the difference? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted March 27, 2009 Administrators Posted March 27, 2009 I guess it could be that people will go to a buffet to get the most possible volume of food they are able. That might be why you see the volumous folks there. More than the actual food choices, I mean. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Amelia Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Gail, Iced Tea is different all over the states. Most places, when you order Iced Tea, it will be brewed tea that has been chilled and served over ice cubes with a side of lemon. You then sweeten it as you like. Some places serve a presweetend tea beverage that comes in all kinds of flavors. Fast food places tend to have this on their fountains along with soda. And sweet tea in the south is an extra sweet tea. I call the buffet places here the "convenience store of restaurants". The thought being that convenience stores are the worst places to shop for something nutritous to eat. It is there but really hard to find and not for the heat & eat set. GreatLakesGramma Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I prefer a buffet because it's a lot easier & cheaper to eat vegan & wheat-free there. If I have to order from a menu, the only thing on it I can eat are side dishes. That gets expensive, not to mention I never know if I'm ordering enough until they bring it to me, because different places use different portion sizes for side dishes. But I almost never eat out anyway. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
