At the time I didn't know there was a law requiring a phone for the septic system. How would you like the job of talking to the septic system? Hopefully it is a one way conversation. Moderators Bravus Posted March 28, 2009 Moderators Posted March 28, 2009 On a driver's licence here you have 12 demerit points before losing your license. Different offenses attract different numbers of points. Right now I have only 2 points remaining before I lose my license, so I have to be Captain Law-abiding for the next 2 years until I get some points back (they come back 3 years after the initial offence). I mean, it's not that I'm a wild outlaw anyway, but the combination of speed cameras and my quick bike and the odd moment of exuberance is a problem... Quote Truth is important

I remember when I got out of the military I bought a 69 camaro. I guess you can imagine already what I'm going to say! well your right!. hahaha At least in NYC, not sure about other states and cities, if you got 3 tickets within a years time you lost your license for 6 months. But they also had a program at that time that if you got a speeding ticket you could go to a class and get it taken off of your record. Well I got quite a few speeding tickets and took that class a few times. The bad thing was that if they gave you warnings instead of a ticket you could only get 2 and if you got stopped a third time than they all turned into speeding tickets and oops you lost your license for 6 months. A long straight piece of road, no change in conditions at all, but a change of speed limit sign from 80 km/h to 60 km/h that I completely failed to see. It was downhill so I'd actually rolled up to about 85, believing I was still in an 80 zone. 85 in a 60 is 4 points right there, which is a big chunk of the missing points. But no excuses - do the crime, do the time. Just gotta be extra careful of similar situations... Quote Truth is important

There is an odd section where the highway becomes a street. Speed limit remains 55mph right up to the first stop signal and there it reduces to 40. I mean the sign changing the limit is right on the corner of the stop light intersection! I know a number of employees who have been stopped there, going through the green @55. So just when are you supposed to change your speed? Prior to the sign or at the sign?LOL I have had only 1 speeding ticket in my life and I took the course (online) that erased it from my record. Now the only thing I have on it is the accident I had back in '07. I'm not sure how long those stay on record before dropping off. Liz Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I love ER and have watched it from the very beginning, I hate that this week is the very last episode. Anyways, back to my story: We worked for a small, rural, county hospital and we worked the late shift. We never got a supper break because the kitchen always closed down after the 5:00pm supper trays were served (this little fact really becomes important later in our defence). So it became a habit that Ang and I would go and grab supper for everyone working that late shift with us. So on the night in question, we had our list of everyone's orders and I noticed the ambulance in the bay. I look over to Ang and say "Hey, wouldn't it be fun........" and laid out the plan. So here we are, taking the ambulance through Taco Bell, and giggling like little school girls, because we think this is hilarious riding around in am ambulance. We even stop and get some drinks and candy (it was on our list) at a convenience store and run into some cops (But remember this is a small town and so we know everyone, and we tell them what we are doing while we are still giggling---they look at each other and say "I am going to pretend we just didn't hear them"---somehow this fact also played very well in our defence). The creme de la creme was when we are now on our way back to the hospital, and we think it would be entirely too funny if we ran it as a code. So full lights and sirens and we called the hospital on the radio--we are code three with hot burritoes in the back--tons of laughter. That was the part where we really messed up, because we totally forgot about police scanners. I will leave out the gory details, but we didn't lose our jobs. Eventually we went our separate ways, and I lost contact with Ang. Until, that is, she recently started working in my children's doctor office....as soon as we saw each other we hugged and the first thing she said was, "Remember when we stole that ambulance?".
