The Sanitarium product is called Weetbix, I thought Weet-a-bix was an English product

without any connection to our church.

Whatever, if you live near where I live and work...it could be Arabic/Lebanese, Vietnamese, Croation and other Slavs......but very few French, there are a few French speakers from Mauritius.

They just do not know what they are missing, do they, Stan?

Nan is right - Weetabix is an English food and has no Adventist Sanitarium connection:

Quote:
From its base in the heart of the English countryside, The Weetabix Food Company has been creating delicious breakfast cereals since 1932. Our headquarters are part of a 75 acre site in Kettering, Northamptonshire where we produce popular cereals including Weetabix, Oatibix, Alpen, Ready brek, Weetabix Mini’s and Weetos.

The business has expanded significantly since we first started out and we now employ over 2,000 people around the world. Our best known cereal, Weetabix, is officially the UK’s favourite breakfast, accounting for 8% of the country’s total cereal sales with annual sales worth over £95million*

How do we know if that picture was taking from a store in France or a store in Australia?

I always thought that this was British. Doesn't it have that Queen's ensignia on it?

I can interpret this for you:

Weetabix (same in both languages)

High in fibre

Low in fat

No preservatives

Easy!!!

Weetabix is probably the greatest cereal product on the planet. I wouldn't be surprised if we find it in heaven when we get there! Stan may have been eating the Canadian version. yucky

Yes its British an good for you. I don't express that sentiment about UK food very often!

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Oh my....If it's british and good for you, why are the Ozzies eating it????

1] They are not too keen on Britian....ask any sports guy who knows about the British and Ozzies sports rivalrys. [Does the concept of "NO RESPECT" come into play here?] At any rate, they consider this 'stuff' as 'breaky' [aka 'breakfast']. and yeah, it's pretty well established as 'breakfast'....

2] Human nature has a tendency to love anything that is NOT good for you. Since Weetabix is a HUMAN and MAN-MADE PRODUCT, how it is that mankind thinks of this as "good for you"?

Are you sure, Lazarus, that it is a UK product. As far as I know the factory is here in Clinton, MA! Unless the spelling is different! Not sure maybe this is just a factory in the USA, but the main one is in the UK. But I've always heard that this is the main factory.

I just googled it Lazarus and this is what I got: Weetabix was invented in Australia in the 1920s by Bennison Osborne. He and New Zealand partner Malcolm Macfarlane sold the Australian and New Zealand rights for "Weet-Bix" to Sanitarium Health Food Company in 1930. Osborne and Macfarlane then formed the "British & African Cereal Company Pty. Ltd.", and began exporting the product to South Africa. When they introduced the product to the British market they decided to rename the product "Weetabix". In 1936 the name of the company was changed to Weetabix Limited.

Weet-Bix are still marketed today in Australasia and South Africa by Sanitarium. The product was not introduced to North America until 1967 when Weetabix Limited began exporting the product to Canada. The United States followed in 1968. So the one in the USA must be an affiliate of the one in the UK. So I guess you are correct Lazarus.

Would someone from the land down under, send me a box of the real dinkydie?

You would have the name rights to my first born grandchild, pending approval of the one who births him/her.

pk krause "The factory is here in Clinton, MA"...

I think that a more correct statement would be " 'A' factory is here in Clinton. MA".. That wouldn't be Van Brode's would it? Both my wife and I worked there in the early '50s.

If ever there was a product that tasted and felt like compressed cardboard it would be Weet-bix. ( according to my boyhood recollections. If I tried it again I might like it....like what happened when I tried Cheerios.. I still don't like Kix)

Perhaps further research might be done to discover who is the culprit responsible for inflicting this product on us. It has been my understanding for many years that English or not it was a product that was produced and marketed by Seventh-day Adventists...perhaps more like J.H. Kellog and Corn Flakes. I believe that it is the Sanitarium Health Foods in Australia currently "grinding" out Weet-Bix.

Stan,

Don't expect a box real soon...I tried to mail 3 cans of 16 oz of Enchalada Sauce to my daughter...and aborted the attempt when they told me that it was going to cost me $76.00....For s o m e reason, I felt that price was a bit much....

I was in our local grocery store today, and found "Weetabix" in the "green" section. The box said "distributed in the U.S.," but "made in Canada."
