True-believer Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 This is from a exAdventist friend of mine, Dennis Rainwater, who has turned from Adventism to being a part of a non-denomination Church, and in the below he--Dennis really puts anyone down who wants to follow the truth---not his truth... I've read his stuff, and it is all about Sunday is the Lord's Day, he has missed the point, and starts criticising me and all sda's. Pray for him please. There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of DEATH. Prov 14:12 Luke, our pastor -- whom we've been working along side for the past three or four years -- has just done something very similar... He has knowingly turned his back on what he knows to be truth and God's path (and by so doing, has sacrificed the whole church upon the altar of comfort and personal feelings, and has deeply damaged many trusting, sincere people who have been following him) so that he could turn back to what felt familiar, safe and inviting. Our feelings are the most UNRELIABLE basis for our choices that we could employ. Allowing our life to be guided by our feelings is sure to wreck our souls! Luke, you are behaving a lot like Lot's wife. You have been told by godly messengers to RUN -- FLEE the city of deception!! DON'T LOOK BACK!!! But your FEELINGS keep driving you back to the comfortable pig-pen of lies. You simply can't OBEY, and keep from turning back for ONE MORE LOOK AT THE CITY!! Luke, I know those people are nice people. I know there is comfort in being a part of an "us-against-the-world" group... But YOU KNOW it's all based on lies. You are being reckless with your own soul, and careless with the deep pain and anguish you are causing to many folks you keep DRAGGING BACK INTO THIS PIT OF VILE FILTH ALONG WITH YOU!! Goodbye Luke. I will no longer pray that God rescues you from the wiles of the enemy -- for He HAS -- MANY TIMES!!! Instead, I will pray that He clubs you over the head hard enough to get -- AND KEEP -- your attention. I will pray that something so profoundly breaks you that you finally mature enough to realise that your own comfort and "warm fuzzy feelings" are not what the Christian journey are about, and that you will quit "returning as a dog to its vomit". "Like a dog that returns to its vomit, is a fool who repeats his folly." Prov 26:11 I love you Luke. But I will do it from afar from now on. I have important work to do for The Lord in the new church we are moving toward establishing -- and I can't afford the countless hours I spend considering your latest "falling off the cliff" message, doing research in hopes of reaching your heart . . . ONE MORE TIME, and the sleep I lose worrying about you... Even my WIFE is tired of the focus and energy I continue squandering on you. She is tired of watching me take time and attention even from her and our children to spend on you, only to see any good from it erased within a matter of a few days--EVERY TIME!! From now on, I must keep my focus and attention on work that produces LASTING results. May God to whatever it takes to break this selfish, sinful pattern in your life, Den <>< Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
GreatLakesGramma Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Dgrimm, TrueBeliever is Luke. This is a letter someone sent him, and the writer is talking about TB returning to the Adventist church. It's the Adventist church he is calling the "pigpen of lies" and a "pit of vile filth." Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Administrators Gail Posted April 14, 2009 Administrators Posted April 14, 2009 Wow- where is the love? :( Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
