Taylor Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Interesting questions. Can I add? Does TV contribute to apathy? Does TV inspire you to make a difference? Does 3abn teach YOU anything that will help prepare the lost sheep for Jesus 2nd Coming? Or is it entertainment. By the way I think 3abn is a outstanding ministry because of the people they reach in the third world. While 3ABN is outstanding I don't enjoy every single program, but they have ALOT of good stuff on there. By the way I also think that the Hope Channel is fantastic. Quote
guibox Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I agree with Lazarus. It makes no sense to take common things and say, 'Would Jesus do these things?' We would be hard pressed to try and imagine Jesus riding The Beast roller coaster with his hands in the air screaming in excitement and fear. That doesn't mean that it would be wrong or inappropriate for us to do it. There are principles of morality that need to be followed or considered but to try and take specific examples of 21st century culture and apply it to what the Lord would have done had it been available in the 1st century, and then try to use that to determine whether we should or shouldn't do something is futile and unnecessary. Taylor Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Yes, and guibox, I truely think that Jesus would do some things that would surprise us (such as he surprised the relgious leaders in his day), and there would be some things that would surprise us that he wouldn't do. Quote
Moderators lazarus Posted April 16, 2009 Moderators Posted April 16, 2009 You just made me realise that Jesus would be accused of being a TV watching, movie going, bar loving, meat-eating, false teacher these days. AD 30 Luke 15:1 Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to him. 2 And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, “This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them.” 2009 Luke 15:1 Now all the drug dealers and sinners were coming near to listen to him. 2 And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, “This fellow welcomes sinners and watches TV with them.” Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Administrators Gail Posted April 16, 2009 Administrators Posted April 16, 2009 Accused of meat-eating? He WAS a meat-eater! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted April 16, 2009 Administrators Posted April 16, 2009 Is it an accusation if it is true? And what would that mean? There is a post in the Inspirational section that I think Denise posted, that talks about the spirit of fault-finding. Interesting stuff! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

You would be surprised at how may SDA's would stumble over the question "was Jesus a meat eater?" Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. But some just hate to deal with the issue. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted April 16, 2009 Administrators Posted April 16, 2009 Jesus would have also partaken of the Passover meal which would have been lamb, wouldn't it? Tallmark Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 News is rarely if ever good. 'If it bleeds, it leads' is an old mantra for TV and works well for them. I have a TV, but no cable. My wife and I watch movies and some comedy shows. Humans need entertainment. A time to relax and get away from it all. How much time? Each has to answer that for him or herself. Quote
Shekinah Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I would say Tv is more 90% evil it is the Soddom and Ghemmora of our minds.I doubt if Jesus would watch TV for the simple fact that Christ states the things of this world are disgusting to Him.He also says not to be a part of this world so I believe Christ has something else in mind for our entertainment someday. We could ask the question would Jesus have His own TV show?Wgats your thoughts? If Jesus had His own TV show...what would it be??? He could be a bit like Benny Hinn of todays world... He could be a bit like Billy Graham of todays world... He will be like Paula White... He will keep the Sabbath each saturday--live on national TV from sunset friday--to sunset satuday... There would be lots of miracles, or slaying in the spirit, or speaking in tongues----thats if Jesus is PENTECOSTAL... He could be like Shawn Boonstra... He could be non-denominational... He could be Adventist Christian... What are your thoughts everyone??? Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
