Woody Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 Thought I should change the topic so as to get more people interested. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted April 15, 2009 Members Posted April 15, 2009 That is very interesting Redwood. I guess the PUC president figured if you can't beat him join him! :):) pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. aldona Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I perused the article a couple of times and could not find even a whiff of "controversy." It is a typical sanitised Adventist news report - everything is all sweetness and light, and the esteemed leader was loved and respected by all and served with distinction until he floated away into the sunset on a cloud adorned with flowers and rainbows, while choirs of angels sing sweetly about how he will be missed. Why not just tell us what the problem was and why he has resigned? Will the sky fall if somebody admits that an Adventist person or institution is not perfect? aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? Moderators lazarus Posted April 16, 2009 Moderators Posted April 16, 2009 Will the sky fall if somebody admits that an Adventist person or institution is not perfect? aldona Sorry Sis but "when the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own”!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't admit imperfection. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. nuff sed Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Aldona writes: "Why not just tell us what the problem was and why he has resigned? " Why is it always assumed that there "had" to be a problem? ( and likewise assumed that it was the fault of the "brethren") ? Quote
Taylor Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Aldona writes: "Why not just tell us what the problem was and why he has resigned? " Why is it always assumed that there "had" to be a problem? ( and likewise assumed that it was the fault of the "brethren") ? No kidding. I have no idea what it was either, but why does everyone assume it was something dark and ugly? Sometimes people just get tired of "problems around them" or "issues" or have "family emergencies" so they resign. Quote
Moderators lazarus Posted April 16, 2009 Moderators Posted April 16, 2009 I read the article and did not see that there was a particular problem other than it was clear that PUC was looking to move in a new direction and perhaps needed new leadership. It is, however, a feature of institutions that they don't like to admit faults, like most of us. The SDA church is no different in that regard and probably reinforced by some of our interpretations of EGW. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Neil D Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I'm sorry to say this, but, while agreeing with Aldona, I too see a lot of white washing and back clapping in our own conferencce magazines...Sometimes, it gets very old to read this continueal whitewashing of the truth.... Don't get me wrong....We need the congratulatory back clapp of a job well done...We also need to see the needs of our own church and how far it has come in certain areas... The whitewashing of a situation is not truth....it is a subtil [sp] lie... one that has contributed to our prejudices and perceptions of the world....much to our shame... Woody Posted April 16, 2009 Author Posted April 16, 2009 I am in the middle on this. I have seen a lack of transparency and a lack of honestly in our leadership. But this is not always the case. I am not sure we always need to know the particular reasons for a change in leadership. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won.
