Stan Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Can the leader of a Country be 'Biblical' in attitude, and still be a Leader? Am thinking about BHO and his recent attitude, seems more like a "soft answer turns away wrath', and GWB seemed more like "I am in charge, it is my decision' and we are not afraid to use nuclear weapons. ie comments ot Iraq, North Korea, and I think Iran. PLEASE do not turn this into a anti BHO or GWB. AND I am not just talking about the USA. Can leaders of other place, Cuba, France, NZ etc. It seems like leaders grow stronger when they come across stronger. OR does research support that? Thoughts? Members phkrause Posted April 21, 2009 Members Posted April 21, 2009 As far as BHO is concerned only time will tell. Right now he's being low key, but I believe that he can be firm if he has to. But we will see. I know that if I start ranting and raving at someone for doing a crappy job on my car, lets say, the person I'm talking to will also get upset. But if I am low key but firm and think results will be different. But like it says in Proverbs 15:1 "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." and 15:4 " A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit." I don't believe bullying is the best course of action. Look at the columbine killings, the kids doing the killing had been being bullied for a while, and other killings seem to follow that line. Not saying this should be but it seems it is. But being firm is good I think. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. carolaa Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Nehemiah had a different take on leadership - not exactly turning the other cheek, but being ready to defend themselves. There are various biblical examples of leadership. Quote
there buster Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 carolaa is right Saul was not acting 'biblically' when he spared Agag. Samuel was when he "hacked him in pieces." Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell
Moderators Gerr Posted April 23, 2009 Moderators Posted April 23, 2009 Can you define what a "biblical attitude" is? Quote
Neil D Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Was Nebuchanezzar a biblical leader? How about other world leaders? Can they have a biblical attitude? And Gerry, you make a good point when we say that we need to define "biblical Attitude".... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.
