Planey Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 The bit I thought was interesting was that the cocky barked back at the dog. It was also fairly restrained. Sulphur-crested cockatoos in the wild are generally very raucous, with cacophonous screeching being the order of the day. They can also be incredibly destructive, with a large flock descending on a tree and basically destroying it in very quick time. Interestingly these flocks usually post a "sentry" in a close-by tree to warn of any approaching danger. Hence a lookout is often called a "cocky" in Aussie slang.
