Outta Here Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Whether you believe that the Earth is warming globally or not; whether you choose to "go green" or not; whether you eat a vegan diet or not; whatever you are, whatever you believe, whatever you do, Happy Earth Day! Go outside sometime today and see the world that God created for you. Whoever you are, whatever you do, whatever you believe, you cannot deny the wonders of His creation. Check it out and thank God for all that He's done for you today! Here's a little something He created right in my own front yard: What has He made for you?? Quote

carolaa Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I was actually wondering how Hitler's birthday managed to get onto this thread. Quote
carolaa Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 And I was also wondering why anyone would know that bit of trivia off the top of their head. Quote

Dr. Shane Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Well I didn't plant a tree today. I think that is the traditional Earth Day activity. I did flush the toilet and that certainly is giving back to the Earth but I don't think that is exactly what most environmentalists have in mind for Earth day. Of course us Adventists celebrate Earth Day every week as we rest on the Sabbath as a memorial of God's creation of the Earth. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Outta Here Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Hitler's birthday is April 20--same date (but not same year, obviously) as the Columbine shooting. Arbor Day varies state by state. If you're interested in knowing your state's day: Arbor Day Anyway. Glad it was a good Earth day for most of you. I went on a bike ride with my son; the weather was just about perfect. Quote
olger Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 We celebrated by firing up our large diesel generators and plugging in 300-watt bulbs all day. It was the best. Regretfully we were out of tires to burn, though. I should have been more prepared. Maybe next year. :) Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Moderators Gerr Posted April 24, 2009 Moderators Posted April 24, 2009 April 24 is Arbor Day. April 22 is Hitler's birthday. Sorry to contradict you, but my wife has always told me she was born on Hitler's birthday - April 20. Quote
olger Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 "Hitler (German pronunciation: [adɔlf hɪtlɐ], 20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was an Austrian-born German politician and the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), popularly known as the Nazi Party. He was the ruler of Germany from 1933 to 1945, serving as chancellor from 1933 to 1945 and as head of state (Führer und Reichskanzler) from 1934 to 1945." no more arguin' oG Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Key Guy Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Quote: But without question on Earth Day and every day, we owe our deepest gratitude to one inventor who is without equal. As long as men and women inhabit the earth, our very existence will be tied to his remarkable and unequaled creations, too numerous to mention, too complex to ever fully understand. He is known by thousands of names, but we call him God, the sole creator of the heavens and the earth. What incredible arrogance to believe that we limited human beings can destroy that which we cannot even begin to understand, much less create on our own, and that is earth and all of its glories. So today, on Earth Day, we here at the EIB Network thank God for Mother Earth and for allowing us to live in the greatest of nations on that earth, the United States of America Rush Limbaugh Quote

Dottie Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Well, did I ever get corrected!!! But I did get one thing straight. Each state had its own arbor day, but National Arbor Day is the last Friday in April. Sorry about the Hitler thing - - - shouldn't have mentioned such an awful person on such a good day. (We live in the house we are in because there are trees in the yard) p.s. My head somehow seems to be full of trivia, very little of which has helped me in any way. Quote
