The Agents Threatened and Tortured Baptist Church Pastor @ Checkpoint

This "caught on tape" case is not the only one. You know that. But the point here is that more and more pastors and Protestant churches in USA loosing their faith of their freedom here by stating that sooner rather than later the USA will not be a freedom country any longer.

This is a video of a very brave US citizen pastor named Steven Anderson defending OUR RIGHTS against illegal search and seizure without due process. The border patrol agents attempt to threaten him into submission, making several unprofessional statements (Terrorist). He is finally allowed to leave but is later beaten and tazed several times during another stop. Please thank this man for fighting to preserve our freedoms.

PHOENIX -- A Valley pastor is claiming border patrol agents beat him and stunned him with a Taser at a checkpoint, but he said he had done nothing wrong. Steve Anderson, a preacher at Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, said the incident happened Wednesday night at a checkpoint along I-8, far from the Mexican border. Anderson said agents stopped him on his way back to the Valley from San Diego. The agents asked him where he was going and if he was a U.S. citizen. Anderson said he wasn't answering any of their questions and told them he wanted to go home.

The agents then told Anderson to pull over. He said he sat in his car for an hour before DPS arrived to tell him he was under arrest. "He said, 'Our dog alerted us that you either have a human being or drugs in this trunk,'" Anderson said. The officers then forced Anderson from his vehicle, he said. "They told me, 'You're coming out of this car one way or the other,'" he said. Then, Anderson said the agents broke the windows of his car, removed him from the car, and beat him. "I'm sitting like this, crying, screaming for mercy," he said. "Next thing I know, an agent takes my head and shoves it into the broken glass on the side of the window ... I can feel the glass shoving into my scalp. Then, I'm thrown on the ground and they're still Tasing me throughout this."

Anderson insisted he did not have to submit to the search that he said led to officers breaking windows, firing Tasers and humiliating him. A spokesman with Customs and Border Patrol confirmed that Anderson was asked to pull over for inspection after a search dog alerted agents to a scent from his vehicle. The spokesman also said DPS took Anderson into custody after Anderson remained in the regular traffic lane for an hour. He added border patrol agents never use Tasers. The border patrol is currently investigating the officers' actions, the spokesman said.

Um - I think the law is fairly clear that law enforcement officers with reasonable suspicions (such as those raised by a sniffer dog) have the authority to search a vehicle.

Just 45 days after the September 11 attacks, with virtually no debate, Congress passed the USA PATRIOT Act. There are significant flaws in the Patriot Act, flaws that threaten your fundamental freedoms by giving the government the power to access to your medical records, tax records, information about the books you buy or borrow without probable cause, and the power to break into your home and conduct secret searches without telling you for weeks, months, or indefinitely. Using Electronic Device Such Tazer to stabilize suspicious person.

US Constitution (Bill of Rights) VS US Patriot Act

  • Amendment IV: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
  • Freedom from unreasonable searches: The government may search and seize Americans' papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation.

  • Amendment VI: In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.
  • Right to a speedy and public trial: The government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial.

    =-=-=-=-=-=

  • Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
  • Freedom of association: To assist terror investigation, the government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity.

    =-=-=-=-=-=

  • Amendment VI: ... to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.
  • Right to legal representation: The government may monitor conversations between attorneys and clients in federal prisons and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes.

    =-=-=-=-=-=

  • Amendment I: Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech ...
  • Freedom of speech: The government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone the government subpoenaed information related to a terror investigation.

    =-=-=-=-=-=

  • Amendment VI: ... to be confronted with the witnesses against him ...
  • Right to liberty: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them. US citizens (labeled "unlawful combatants") have been held incommunicado and refused attorneys.

The pastor had no reason not to cooperate, and the law enforcement officials were in the right. I have no sympathy for this pastor.

We pay our Border Patrol officers to stop people and ask questions and if they feel the need to, they can also make searches. That is their job. They have the authority. The pastor should have answered them.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

This pastor had four video's not just the three above.

The fourth video he actually expains what happened to him.

What he said in the fourth video is very contrary to what actually happened in the first three video's.

The so-called pastor lied about it all, and said the police did all these things to him in which the first three video's do not show.

I'm with John317... I do not feel any symphony for this man.

The Bible says --- not the USA Constitution--- but the Bible says to respect the laws of the land.

The man should of wind down his window and co-operated with the officials and should of produced his drivers licence when asked.

Is this guy really a baptist pastor??? I hope not!!!

This man is supposed to be an ambassador for Christ, irregardless of what the U.S. constitution says. The Word does say it is better to obey God than man, when there is a demand that is asking us to act contrary to God's will, then we have every God given right to refuse the demand. I did not see the agents asking anything contrary to God's will, despite the possibility the pastor's legal rights may have been violated. On the contrary, he could have saved himself a lot of trouble if he had complied to the simple things of which he was asked.

"And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away." Matthew 5:41 NKJV

I've only watched the first part of the first video, but it sure looks as if the man in the car was expecting (for some reason) to be stopped. He had a camera ready to take the video; he used several different buzzwords; he had an antagonistic attitude. Those all make officers wary, and on the alert. The stop and following events seem to have been precipitated by the driver's actions and attitude.

I can sympathize with this pastor to a certain extent. But like it was mentioned, he should have allowed them to search is vehicle, if he had nothing to hide. And also like mentioned, he seemed ready for something. So it almost seems like he wanted this to happen. And one more thing, lets say that he was a criminal, than people would be in an uproar as to why he wasn't searched. We can't have it both ways.

Are there going to be hearings about the Obama Admin. and the authorization and use of "torture"? I am serious. If the Obama administration is now using 'torture' ... this is a serious situation. How can one criticize the previous admin. when they clearly stated that they didn't authorize torture. Now Obama is torturing PASTORs. This is a dangerous attack against church and state on behalf of the Obama admin.

How old is that? The last time I was returning from San Diego that check point was shut down.

Perhaps it has opened once again.

IMHO he is not much of a Pastor, if he even is one.

One thing the events more or less do assure us. As time passes mistakes in judgment will transpire that will make it easy for those in authority, as well as the ordinary citizen, to come down hard on religious individuals who express opposition to the laws of the land, especially as it will relate to Sunday/Sabbath

conflicts. My understanding is that these are already forming in some European countries. It's only problematic how soon we, Sabbath keepers according to Holy Scripture, will be facing difficulties re: those realities.

It would seem that the better part of wisdom would be to be as congenial as possible, as long as it would not be in direct opposition to specific requirements of the Word.

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. "Matt 6:24 KJV

"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served..., or...gods...whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."Joshua 24:15 NIV

IMHO it was dumb not to comply with the border patrol's request. They had "reasonable" suspicion to ask for a search.
