Thoughts on health and swine flu

Greetings everyone,

The world is a much smaller place than it used to be. When someone in Mexico gets hit with a virus that has bred in the body of a pig, the

effect immediately flashes around the world thanks to global travel.

All the more reason to consider carefully the state of our health.

Now if I remember correctly, the Bible, written thousands of years ago, seems to offer some very up to date advice on what kind of food

is safe to eat and what is potentially harmful. (Eg. Leviticus 12.

Reason why see 1 Cor 6:19-20). Guess which animal features prominently on the danger list? That's right, PIGS! And to think that some people think this biblical advice is archaic and not for Christians, or anyone for that matter, to pay attention to. Consider the following news link about the current swine flu:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/04/27/2554021.htm

Will eating pig cancel my salvation? No. My salvation depends solely on the sacrifice of jesus and my ability to conquer the devil's hold over me depends on the strength of Jesus. But knowingly destroying my body and health will greatly limit my ability to live a joyful and fulfilling life, and in turn will make it more difficult to resist temptation and fight the good fight. Now to any sincere Christ- follower, that definitely should get all the attention!

Does God want to burden us with His directions and advice? Or give us the best chance at the best quality of life possible? Why should we as princes and princesses settle for seeing what we can get away with instead of embracing the absolute best God has on offer for us?

Let's stop scrabbling around the tip for our food (literal and spiritual). Let's eat at the King's table!

To God be the victory.

I agree with all you have mentioned dgrimm, and also TB. But having said that, its not the eating of pigs that caused the swine flu, from what I've heard, it was the proximity of people to the pigs. Just a thought on the situation.

Awesome points mentioned above by the other posts...

But for my post I do not want to take the credit for it, because my pastor at my sda church emailed it to me, and I thought it was pretty cool to share with the folks on this forum.

But so long as people eat pigs, then some people are also going to be in very close proximity to them.

More people die from 'normal' flu every year than swine flu, but which dis-ease gets the media coverage? This seems to be a ploy by the CDC and the AMA to get people frightened so they got shots, shots, and more shots. The more shots, the more dis-ease. The more dis-ease, the more money for the docs.

I learned today that the figure they always give for deaths from the flu is not a real number, but "just a wild guess that's been circulating since 2003 and was based on 'statistical modeling' rather than any actual laboratory confirmation of flu deaths. Based on the CDC's own standards, the actual number of confirmed deaths from 'regular flu' each year is essentially ZERO." Myth Busted

Mother-in-law is farming with chickens (organic).

So now her daughter want to start farming with porkers, which means the chickens will pick up the pigs illnesses...

She's most upset, and we hope that it doesn't happen, as she is reliant on the income from her chickens.

Please pray for her.

Thanks.
