How do you praise God?

In our Sabbath School class a few weeks ago, we were challenged to look into praise, and that we need to do more of it. We are very good making our wants known to God, and pretty good at telling Him thank you. But praising Him???? Yes I can read what others have put on paper, like hymns and Psalms in the Bible. But something original is quite another thing. Very seldom do I hear praise in public prayers at church. What do you think?? Why is it so hard to come up with something original to just praise God? I think it is an almost lost art. Yet the angels in heaven praise continually.

They do it regularly in the church I attend

There is a Psalm that talks about praising God... hmm... let me see if I can remember which one.

Here it is-

Psalm 105 is full of ways to praise the Lord:

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name;

make known among the nations what he has done.

2 Sing to him, sing praise to him;

tell of all his wonderful acts.

3 Glory in his holy name;

let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

4 Look to the LORD and his strength;

seek his face always.

5 Remember the wonders he has done,

his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced

Also Hebrews 13:15,16 talks about the "sacrifice of praise". Perhaps it is a sacrifice because we don't do it enough and/or don't FEEL like doing it enough!

The awesome thing about praise is the effect it has upon YOU. Try it! Anytime! Then get back to tell us what happens.

One way we praise or glorify Him ... is through our "good works". He loves it when He sees us feeding and clothing the poor for instance.

Our greatest praise, IMHO, is to believe what God says and obey Him.
