Woody Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 Yes, they said that some of these photos were photoshopped and some were taken unknown to her. And anyways ... none of the photos were found in violation. The old story ... innocent until proven guilty is a good motto. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Woody Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 Yes, she just indicated that on one of the photos there must have been a slight wardrobe malfunction that she was unaware of. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

carolaa Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Donald just loves being in front of the cameras, don't you think? He just yaps and yaps. But he is a pretty fair person. pk I've watched The Apprentice a few times, and I can *never* guess correctly who he is going to fire. Once he fired a person just because they stood up for the leader of their team (that lost). He fired someone else because they had a DUI in their past. Every time I watch the show, it reinforces my desire to stay away from corporate employment. I've thought many things about Donald Trump, but "fair" is not one of them. In this case, I suspect he just wanted the uproar to come to an end. Quote

Dr. Shane Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 What news anchor can say "can I vomit right now?" and still have any credibility as an objective news anchor? Perhaps it was a commentator and not an anchor that said that. I don't know but it it was indeed a news anchor... that is pretty bias reporting. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted May 14, 2009 Administrators Posted May 14, 2009 Context and rational perspective seems lacking in the reaction to Lazarus' post. I understand his quote to be his own sentiment in the context of this thread... that context is barf-worthy. The reaction to the quote also lacks context. We don't know exactly what evoked a gag response of the MSNBC anchor. It may have been more than justified. We are not even sure if the context was about Carrie keeping her crown, some other aspect or another commentary about the whole story. Or was it even in a serious context? And in true right-wing Pavlovian response it turns into an MSNBC bashing opportunity which is out of context to the topic at hand. And it seems from that same corner nothing else matters but to defend at all costs this woman because she has said one thing key to the right wing agenda. Nothing else seems to matter in the larger context. A little perspective on this whole tempest in a teapot story of the artificial and superficial staged theater of beauty queens: --- The Miss California you see is not her natural beauty self - She is boob-job enhanced, hair color changed, flaws hidden with make-up, teeth bleached perfectly white and straightened... We know not what else has been done to tuck and suck the imperfections out of her. --- She failed to disclose, as required by pageant rules, her past semi-nude modeling which she did as a teenager (Where were her parents in that!?!?). And her current advocacy also apparently violates another part of her agreement as a contestant. --- She came in second place! And all the grand-standing from both sides totally eclipsed the real winner's right to the lime light. --- None of that matters since everyone wants to use her sex appeal and publicity to promote their own agendas, anti-gay rights groups, gay rights groups, beauty pageant owners (Trump)... --- Would you suggest her as a role model for your daughters? I agree with Lazarus! Tom Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Dr. Shane Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 It was a news anchor and he was talking about the whole story being tabloid trash! It is a major news story. Any news anchor that thinks it is tabloid trash doesn't know what real news is. For the past decade we have seen celebrity after celebrity shove gay marriage down the throats of the American people. Now a beauty queen stands up for what is right, openly forgives those that hate here and bravely faces her critics. That is a big news story. If that makes someone vomit I would hate to know what makes them jump for joy. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

If that makes someone vomit I would hate to know what makes them jump for joy. Had she spoken out in favor of gay marriage few if any would have given much thought to the fact that she as a beauty contestant that may have had surgical enhancements. Not sure how any know that to be true either. While it is likely I have not heard where someone has offered anything close to actual knowledge. As for one of my granddaughters using her as a role model. I would hope that if faced with something similar in importance to them, they would be as willing to speak up knowing it would probably cost them what they were striving for. At the graduation of one of my granddaughters the principal gave a little summary of each graduate. I was extremely proud of A,when the principal said, "Those that know her know "Not to ask her a question unless you wanted a honest answer" That is what the judge received from this young woman and it did not follow the slavish answer to PC most give" Beautiful or not, enhanced or not, beauty contests being silly or not, this young woman stood by what she believed. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
GreatLakesGramma Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Here is a copy of the contract that Miss Prejean signed on November 11, 2008: Contract Look for clause #9, at the bottom of page 8. This is where Miss Prejean checked the space indicating that she had never been photographed in a nude or semi-nude state, and signed her initials below that. She herself has publicly admitted that the semi-nude photo that was published was indeed her, at the age of 17. So she lied on the contract. Look also at clause 5(a)(3). This is where it says that if she becomes the titleholder, the organization has exclusive rights and control over all public appearances, including radio interviews such as the one she did with Dr. Dobson for Focus on the Family, and other appearances, all without the permission of the organization. So she has violated her contract. While I don't have a problem with Miss Prejean being commended for publicly speaking her convictions in the face of opposition, it is much more important to me that my children live lives of honesty and integrity, keeping their promises, and honoring legally binding contracts, and they will not learn those virtues from Miss Prejean. I also would not want my daughter or granddaughters to copy her immodesty, in exploiting her sexuality, and even enhancing it by having breast implants. This is not appropriate behavior for Christian women, ever, under any circumstances. She has done one good thing that I would hope my children and grandchildren would also do, but she has done a lot more things that I do not want them to emulate. I don't consider that being a good role model. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
