Planey Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Excellent video of a very good group 9duo?) The two guys are Don Fagenson and David Weiss (who were school friends) and took the names Don Was and David was when they formed the group. However I have known mostly of Don Was as a record producer. (I actually knew about this part of his career - I had to Google the first bit - could you tell?) I found this list of artists which he has produced to be very interesting: * Bob Dylan * The Rolling Stones * Kris Kristofferson * George Clinton * Randy Newman * Carly Simon * Paul Westerberg * George Michael * Bob Seger * Glenn Frey * Iggy Pop * The Go * Khaled * Stevie Nicks * Solomon Burke * Travis Tritt * Brian Wilson * Roy Orbison * Waylon Jennings * B.B. King * Jackson Browne * Ziggy Marley * Al Green * Garth Brooks * Ringo Starr * Richie Sambora * Lyle Lovett * Joe Cocker * Willie Nelson * Elton John * The B-52's * Barenaked Ladies * The Black Crowes * The Presidents of the United States of America * Hootie & The Blowfish * Ofra Haza * Jaguares * Cristina * Amos Lee * Poison * The Knack * Old Crow Medicine Show Fairly impressive, eh. Planey Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Could be others too! I knew Don had been (still is?) a very popular producer as I had seen his name in the credits on many disparate albums, but I was impressed when I found that list. Key Guy Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 I recently went off-course on some research and checked on the talent for whom Nile Rodgers of Chic was the song writer and/or producer. Another? The late Dan Hartman. These guys may no be famous as superstars, but they were very influential in music, behind the scenes. Quote
Planey Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Yes, all great (andprolific) producers, timewarp. Another one more noted for producing heavy rockers was Mutt Lange. That is until he was asked to produce an album for Shania Twain. They then proceeded to get married so he produced a lot of her albums. I believe they are now getting (or have gotten divorced.
