GreatLakesGramma Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 So, do you plan on confronting anyone parking in a handicap space that doesn't look handicapped? Anyone who does so, especially knowing that there are conditions that cause someone to need one that aren't readily apparent, is an insensitive clod, in my opinion. Key Guy Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 So, you plan on confronting anyone parking in a handicap space that doesn't look handicapped? If so, you are an insensitive clod. GLG, go back to the original story I told about the guy I know that uses the Handicapped tag even when his mama isn't in the car. I haven't confronted him, nor do I plan on confronting anyone on this issue. That's the job of the 'insensitive clod' cops that are supposed to enforce the laws we live by. If anyone here is using their tag illegally, then I have every right to include them in my diatribes against injustice. If everyone here is using their tags legally, what is the problem? You disappoint me. Quote
Amelia Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Quote: You are saying that in certain circumstances, it's okay to cheat. Don't question an alleged handicapped person. I don't agree. Nope, I did not say that. I said I had observed people cheat on the system with self righteous impunity. And I'm not questioning alleged disabled people. These people are known NOT to be disabled. I also never said these people had disabled plates or tags on their cars. GreatLakesGramma Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 PS: Sorry timewarp, for the misunderstanding. I see I accidentally left out a word - "So, do you plan on confronting...." It does make a difference in the meaning. I have gone back and added the missing word. I also changed the second sentence, as I don't really like directing phrases such as "insensitive clod" directly at individuals, but prefer to apply them only in a general sense to a category of people. I really do feel bad about directing that at you, even though I did use the "if" to try to signify that it only applied if you were actually doing what it seemed you might be saying you would. Key Guy Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Great idea. Encourages people to think global in their purchasing habits. Graeme We know that all drivers of hybrids cannot possibly stand walking any appreciable distance, so we need to reward them with parking spaces closer to their destination. I predict fights between the handicapped and the hybrid drivers in the new future. Hybrid drivers, once they understand that they can park in specially marked spots, will undoubtedly park in the handicapped spots by mistake. This is because hybrid drivers/owners have already shown their inability to read and comprehend. We know this because, had they comprehended the facts about hybrids in the first place, they would not have purchased a car that requires more energy to build than a traditional vehicle, a more expensive maintenance program to operate and more problems in disposal of their hybrids once the wear out prematurely (do you possibly believe they will run dependably for even 100k miles?) Next up... special parking for food stamp recipients, pregnant mothers, mothers with small children, reusable grocery bag carriers, AARP members, union workers, illegal aliens, relatives of Nancy Pelosi, Sierra Club members (I hate to leave out anyone, so I'm sorry if I missed that special segment of society) Let's be clear... I'm not busting on the handicapped. But now that special parking for the handicapped has become embedded in our land, you can see the trend emerging for other groups. Part of my TIC predictions may come true! Quote

I was thinking you were referring to Handicapped tag users as that was what I was ranting about. Sorry about that. When a disabled plate or placard is issued, the laws concerning them sent along with them. It is illegal for a non-handicapped person to use a handicapped plate or placard in order to park in a handicapped designated area. The placard, which should be displayed hanging on the rearview mirror while in a handicapped parking space, should not be left there while driving elsewhere. The person for whom the placard or plate is issued, has to be the one who goes into the store. It is illegal for the handicapped person to sit in the car in a handicapped parking space while somebody else does the shopping. Leaving your placard hanging on your rearview mirror while driving down the road indicates you do not know the law, probably not disabled, and is reason for police to stop you. Then they can look inside your car for drugs and guns, give you a field sobriety test, and arrest you for all the above. So be sure you take the disabled placard off your rearview mirror while driving. Quote Prs God, frm whm blssngs flw http://www.zoelifestyle.com/jmccall
