A young boy was saved by a quick thinking doctor. The boy had a head injury and needed to have quick surgery. The doctor who didn't have the right tools .... quckly went to the maintanence shed and grabbed a drill. He drilled a hole in the boys head and saved his life. The parents are praising the doctor.

Okay ... this sounds pretty wild. But there was not much more info on this at the time. When F _ _ gives me more ... I will pass it on.

Doctor saves boy's life with power drill

Someone made the comment, in the feedback comments on the story yesterday, that the doctors treating the late Natasha Richardson had been in exactly the same situation but were too afraid to act because of the fear of litigation. I think it was actually another doctor that said this.

In the Natasha Richardson case, I read that it was the fault of the people who were with her, who sent the first paramedics back and said they weren't needed. She was walking and talking and laughing so they didn't realize the blow was as serious as it was. By the time she started to lose consciousness they were still out on the ski slope and it was too late to get her to any medical care soon enough.
