Dr. Shane Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Yes, another 'gay' news story. Blame MSNBC for this one. Military wants more time before gay ban ends Quote: A senior military official said that while President Barack Obama has been clear that he wants to repeal the Clinton-era policy of "don't ask, don't tell," there is no specific timeline to do it. The official says that leaves room that the military wants to use to make sure the eventual change goes well. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the Pentagon has not begun formal planning for the repeal. There is a concern the repeal could set off a polarizing debate, an official said. And that, the official said, runs the risk of placing an overstretched fighting force in the middle of a divisive policy fight. I have no problem with gays serving in the military. I see no reason why being gay should disqualify someone for defending and possibly dying for their country. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Yeah, you would think that most of the anti-gay crowd would follow the same logic of certain segments of society that see no problem with populating the ranks of combat with the less desirable and less "promising", lower educated, criminal elements, etc., since getting rid of them helps strengthen the gene pool... "Let 'em join up and get themselves killed... we are better off with a few less of there kind anyway..." However, the homophobes tend to believe that gays should not serve in the military for the same reason some think women shouldn't. These girly-men are weaker and won't hold up under the pressure, will be sexually distracted by the manly soldiers next to them, hit on the enemy instead of hitting them, etc. Or, they think that being that close to a homo might just turn you into one... those soldiers uncertain of their orientation may be converted and go all gay on us... Or, those gays aren't sufficiently motivated and committed - they just think those snappy uniforms are ssso fabulousss... I'm just saying... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. I don't have no problem with gays in the military.
