Key Guy Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 From the Terrace Standard online http://www.bclocalnews.com/bc_north/terracestandard/community/45922567.html Quote: RADIO LISTENERS will soon have another station to tune in on the FM dial. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is taking steps to broadcast a Christian radio station from Newfoundland here. “We are at the moment just waiting for the cement to harden,” said pastor Charles Aguilar May 21. The relay tower was expected to be up after the cement hardened on church grounds last Friday and a test run done this week, he said. The hope is that the station, VOAR, which is the oldest Christian radio station in Canada and the country’s largest Christian radio network, will go live in three weeks, he added. The vision to have a Christian/family-friendly radio station here has been around for more than a couple of years and belongs to Steve McPherson, who worked on the applications, said Aguilar. VOAR Christian Family Radio, based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, is an inter-denominational Christian radio station with family-oriented programming, such as Insight for Living with Chuck Swindoll, Focus on the Family with James Dobson and children’s programs like Adventures in Odyssey. Programming also includes a variety of music, from hymns to contemporary praise and worship to country gospel to instrumental, and programs specifically for women, children and seniors. McPherson’s vision is to have a high-powered Christian radio station that will feature local content, such as local musicians and sermons, in two years, said Aguilar. Aguilar is working on a non-denominational website open to all churches to promote local church activities and events and that will feature VOAR programs. That website will be http://terrace.voar.ca. Updates on the station’s progress will be posted on the church website at http://terraceadventist.org. In the meantime, Terrace Christian Family Radio VOAR will be broadcast on 101.5 FM. Quote

Pastor John Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Just thought I would drop a line here to say that VOAR Radio is proudly owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Newfoundland. While some of the programming is "inter-denominational" ( and is required by law to be so) the SDA Church in Newfoundland clearly runs the station and pays the bills. Quote
Stan Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 VOAR is an incredible Ministry. The Newfoundland Conference does this, I it is my opinion that they are the most powerful media ministry in Canada.
