True-believer Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 wouldn't it be awesome if we got tomorrows news today, if the daily newspaper came a day early, so we get wednesday's paper on tuesday and so on... we could check the xlotto results a day early and really win the big money $30,000+ and in the offering cup at church on sabbath or sunday you need to put in one tenth, in other words, your local church has just made $10,000 from you winning xlotto. Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
True-believer Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Hey dgrimm60, Yeah I know, I watched every episode, it was my favorite tv show. Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

You realize that this is senerio just exposed a weakness in our characters? I know you ment that the church would get some money, and I have thought/played the lotto when it reaches $100M or more....and thought about what I would do with the money.... ...but when you get down to it [by this, I mean reduce this to the common character complaint], it only showes that you [a general "you", not TB specific] are still the greedy scum bag that the devil torments and toys with. In this case, I can easily bargin with God, "God, if you would allow me to win, there would be so many Adventist schools that would have reduced tuition rates as there would be some school trusts established. There would be members who would have new cars that they badly need. There would be some badly needed church debts paid off...and of course, I would get a retirement fund, and my kids would also get a rather good start in their financial futures as well. And then God wispers in my ear, "Neil, if you would just do what I have asked, you would not need this money." Yeah, it's a game that the devil and God plays with me... Are you saying this because you haven't won one yet? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
