GreatLakesGramma Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Was anyone else here besides me snowed in today? When I got up this morning and looked outside, I knew we weren't going to be going anywhere today. And it's still coming down. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Amelia Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Oh how I wish. Here in my part of Oregon we are done with winter and its mild & wet for the rest of this season. Snow finally quit falling this morning and it is a pretty day filled with blue skys and bright sun. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
bevin Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Same storm here Christine 18" over night - had to snow-blow the driveway, including the end that the road-clearing blocks, three times to make sure I could get out if there was an ambulance call. /Bevin in New Hampshire Quote
Nicodema Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Winter has just come to the DC area as of this past week or so; prior to that we still had what's called "indian summer" around here. LOL. A very LONG "indian summer"... We got a little snow ... about 3" or 4". Not enough to halt everything but enough to make some want to stay in and laze around. I'm down with flu so I'm holed in anyway... Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
GreatLakesGramma Posted January 24, 2005 Author Posted January 24, 2005 Naomi, Where were you that you had lake effect snow? I've never heard of anything like that anywhere but here in the Great Lakes region, but under your name it says you're in Texas. Were you visiting up here? We were plannning on going to town, for my husband to take me out to eat for my birthday, which was last Tuesday, and go shopping for a new suit for him. But with the roads like they were, we didn't. We've both been fighting strep all week, and it was probably just as well we stayed home. Even though I thought I had plenty of sleep the night before, I kept falling asleep during my study/prayer time. It took me all morning to finish the 5-pages of the devotional selection I was reading (Abide in Christ, by Andrew Murray, not an Adventist daily devotional book). Then I was sleepy again by 9:30 PM. Administrators Naomi Posted January 24, 2005 Administrators Posted January 24, 2005 Hello Christine, I guess it is a little confusing. My home is in Texas but I have been working in the Chicago area since August. It is with mixed emotions that I will be leaving this area at the month's end. I have grown to love it here. I know what you mean about fighting strep. I have been doing the same. It really hit on Sabbath and I have slept on and off for two days. On this side of the pond we had snow every day this week and then it really dumped on us. I graduated from High School here and went to college on the Kans Nebr boarder but it has been 18 years since I experienced the snow and wind. It's good that you didn't have to go out on your birthday and could stay in and take care of yourself. It does sound like you made up for it today. Take care, Naomi Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
