Facial Hair - Attractive?

Recommended Posts

I can't vote in polls, however...

It depends on the man. Some men look better with facial hair, some men look worse. In terms of particular styles, a full beard and mustache looks better to me than any of the other choices.

I remember reading a book in a university business course once that said that men with mustaches gave the impression of being untrustworthy.

One nice thing about being a man is that growing a mustache is optional.

Are you thinking of growing some facial hair, Shane?

I can't really answer the poll, because none of the answers really fit what I think. Like Aubrey, I feel it depends on the face, and on the hair. Some guys look better with facial hair. My husband looks much better with a mustache, and I hope he never shaves it off. A guy I went to school with was lazy and unkempt, and his beard, which he didn't wash, comb, or trim (same with his very long hair), did not look good. He probably wouldn't have looked good without either though. And some guys look good either way.

The last couple of years I have been growing a beard in November/December and shaving it off at Christmas. I don't think the poll as anything to do with me personally... but maybe in my subconscious I am wondering bwink

Well, for me, I don't like facial hair at all on men--it tickles. However, if your wife likes it, then that is all that really matters.

Yeah, my wife is the same: it never gets as far as the aesthetic judgement because my beard hairs are very thick and spiky so I get no kisses if I ever grow any facial hair. It also prickles my own neck, so if I did grow a beard it would probably be a Van Dyke...

In general I agree that it depends on the person. Does work well on you, though, Shane, and I think for you the full beard is better than any of the alternatives.

Steven King apparently grows one at the beginning of the baseball season every year and shaves it off at the end (or is it the other ways around? I don't know baseball but he has it over the winter).

It looks OK on you, Shane. Just so your wife likes it.

Here's my sweetie, all spiffed up for church:

I have grown three or four beards during my lifetime...starting when I was 17,, My family would tell me each time that they did nothing for me. After I took a good look at the last one (all gray) I decided that they were correct and that I should stick with the moustache I have had on and off the last 37 years.

I can't state a general opinion, because it totally depends on the man. Some look better without, and some look better with. You look good in yours, Shane, and if you wife likes the tickles, take advantage of it!

My wife hates it when I grow a beard but it is only for a few weeks of the year and it is kind of a holiday thing so I do it anyway. In the Midwest, a lot of the guys will grow a beard for hunting season and than shave it off.

I have a friend whose husband always wears a beard, and gets no kisses if he doesn't. That's because his beard grows so fast, if he doesn't wear a beard, the sharp prickles are back only a few hours after shaving.

I must admit that I LOVE a short beard! I almost cannot control myself around a man who has a short beard...

Last year I visited a church where the guest speaker was a Messianic Jew from somewhere in eastern Europe. Though he was a little younger than I am, he looked ancient, because he had a somewhat thin gray beard that spread out like a fan over his chest. It came almost down to his belt and negated any need for a necktie. He said he grew it that way because his wife liked it.(!)

I wonder if he braids it at night to keep it out of the way.

O yes a man with a beard is very attractive.

I used to have a beard till a job i got made me shave it off.

Now i have a big burley brown handlebar mustache. Everywhere i go people comment on it.

Mostly older ladies and many men have something nice to say about it.

I like it and dont care if someone dont. And i am not married(they wont let me marry in the state of CA) angel1 so it scratches no ones face.

All progress in the Spiritual Life is knowing and Loving GOD

"there is non upon earth that I desire besides YOU" PS 73:25

That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.
