Moderators Gerr Posted June 20, 2009 Moderators Posted June 20, 2009 Yep. Without the garbage collector our towns and cities would drown in filth and suffocate with the stench. Without the janitors, our hospitals would become sources of of untold infections. But can one be an extraordinary garbage collector? Janitor? Teacher? Doctor? Mechanic? Policeman? Does extraordinary mean famous? Quote

But "Ordinary Guy Who Did Extraordinary Things" would be nice! I see that every day, Gerry...I see "ordinary" people do extraordinary things and recieve no credit for it...And it is the janitor, the nuc med person, the physical therapist, the waitress at your restuarant, ....and i haven't said anything about the doctor, the RN, the RT, the manager of people, bio-physisist.... The thing is, we all do extraordinary things and it is so common, that we common people are used to extraordinary....The new standard is that extraordinary is, in reality, ordinary... maybe the epitaph 'He was as "Ordinary Guy who did Ordinary things"' might not be a bad thing....I would add at the end of that "....and we were deeply grateful" Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Administrators Gail Posted June 21, 2009 Administrators Posted June 21, 2009 I kinda thought by the title that everyone would be mentioning what their obituary would say... I'd like to hear of some others, if you are all willing! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

LifeHiscost Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I am very happy to be a nobody to most, but a very indispensable somebody to a few. Do you remember Susan Boyle, the lady who succeeded with the song "I Dreamed a Dream"? Have you followed the updates on her experiences? I have a feeling she, at least at this point and to some extent, would be happy if she were back where she was before she ever sang that song on "Great Britain has Talent". Cheers! "Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished; But he that gathereth by labor shall have increase. " Prov 13:11 ASV Not saying she fits that mold, but perhaps this does, to some extent. "Wealth [not earned but] won in haste...or from the production of things for vain...use [such riches] will dwindle away, but he who gathers little by little will increase [his riches]." Prov 13:11 AMP brackets theirs LHC Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

LifeHiscost Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I joined her Facebook fan page, but there have been no updates there since she came in second in the finals. I googled "Susan Boyle updates" and found a good deal more info, some I didn't need to know, but it did make me a little more empathetic for the well known, and a lot more grateful for yours truly, the insignificant. "So he answered and said to me: “ This is the word of the LORD ,,, ‘ Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts. " Zechariah 4:6 NKJV Cheers! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
GreatLakesGramma Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I checked it last night too, after you mentioned her, and I see that she has had problems with stress. At her age, it can't be easy to have her entire life turned upside down so suddenly as it has been. I couldn't handle so much so quickly either. If she had been able to ease into a new routine, it would have been so much easier for her. I hope she is able to adjust. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
