The Memorial of Creation..

If you were to make a memorial of creation, what would you use? Perhaps a huge statue in the middle of our country (wherever that is). Or a special mountain with the number 7 on it… Only problem is, such a memorial would be easy to avoid by simply not going there, and God could be pushed aside along with His signature of Creation. However, God did it differently. After the six days of Creation He made a memorial in time. Man cannot avoid this memorial. Like a 24-hour wave it rolls across the earth every seven days. And with it comes an opportunity to remember (Exodus 20:8-11). From sundown Friday to sundown Saturday night, the Lord of Creation has put Himself uniquely in this wave of time. Bible study is more special, the food tastes better, and fellowship is even sweeter.

Three weeks ago in the town of Loen, Norway my wife & I took our Bible on the Sabbath and sat down by the river that flows from the Jostedal Glacier to Lake Loenfjord. We studied the book of Second Corinthians and were greatly encouraged at the end of a full week. Little did we realize at the time that we were simply doing what Paul, Silas & Timothy had done, almost two thousand years before (Acts 16:13). During this same special wave of time they sat down beside the river in Philippi to pray. And they were refreshed, like we were.
