Amelia Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Las Vegas Churches accept gambling chips THIS MAY COME AS A SURPRISE TO THOSE OF YOU NOT LIVING IN LAS VEGAS , BUT THERE ARE MORE CATHOLIC CHURCHES THAN CASINOS. NOT SURPRISINGLY, SOME WORSHIPERS AT SUNDAY SERVICES WILL GIVE CASINO CHIPS RATHER THAN CASH WHEN THE BASKET IS PASSED. SINCE THEY GET CHIPS FROM MANY DIFFERENT CASINOS, THE CHURCHES HAVE DEVISED A METHOD TO COLLECT THE OFFERINGS.. THE CHURCHES SEND ALL THEIR COLLECTED CHIPS TO A NEARBY FRANCISCAN MONASTERY FOR SORTING AND THEN THE CHIPS ARE TAKEN TO THE CASINOS OF ORIGIN AND CASHED IN. Thus they are called the Chip Monks. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 26, 2009 Members Posted June 26, 2009 That was a good one! Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Planey Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 ] Apparently there are a number of strict Roman Catholics who still will not consume red meat on Fridays. So it was found necessary to convert a part of one of the dungeons in the Franciscan monastery to the preparation of the large amount of fish required. A number of the dedicated priests were assigned to this task. They were the fish friars. Planey Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Doug, I was being sarcastic. Puns are generally considered the lowest form of wit. Interestingly enough, my students consider me the lowest form of halfwit.
