GreatLakesGramma Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I've been seeing a very strange-looking, very boxy, white car in town for a few weeks, but never could check to see what it actually was, as neither of us was parked at the time. I finally got my chance last Tuesday outside the grocery store. When I came out, there it was, parked in the same lane as mine. As I wheeled my cart past it, I checked the driver's side, the back, and finally the passenger side, but nowhere was there anything telling the make or model. I figured it had to be on the front, and thought maybe I'd go back and walk between the cars after I unloaded my things. By the time I headed to the cart corral, there was a young man putting his groceries into the car, so I decided to go ask him about his car. But before I got to him, he had finished and turned and headed in the other direction, so I decided I shouldn't bother him. I thought that maybe, when he pulled out of his parking space, he might just come my way, and I'd get a chance to check out the front of his car. Sure enough, he did. So now I know what it was. It isn't even a new model, but I still had never seen one before. I guess that's what comes of living in the country near a small town. I found a picture online that looks exactly like the one I saw: 2005 Scion XB Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Members phkrause Posted July 5, 2009 Members Posted July 5, 2009 Have seen quite a number of those on the road the last few years. I think Honda makes something as ugly as that also. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
missionlady Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Yeah, I've seen it. My Mom says it ugly and my Dad says it cute. Go figure! Quote
Members phkrause Posted July 5, 2009 Members Posted July 5, 2009 So I guess one of them has very bad eyesight. lol pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

GreatLakesGramma Posted July 5, 2009 Author Posted July 5, 2009 My husband thinks this car and all the others like it are ugly. My son was offended by that, as he likes Honda's version. Personally, I like cars that are different than the average car. The more different, the better. I didn't tell my husband that I thought maybe I would like one of these Scions if he ever gets over his Suburban fixation. Anyway, my son says Honda's is more reliable. olger Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I ain't never seen ugly like that before... If you took one and put a sign "Free for the taking" on it, and left to eat lunch - when you came back there would likely be another one sitting there. g Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

Dottie Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 The model that you pictured is of an older model. The newer ones have more curves and aren't so cheap looking. It is made by Toyota, who else? Quote
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 9, 2009 Moderators Posted July 9, 2009 Is this the one that is asymmetrical looking from the back - a post on the driver's side back corner, but the rear window wraps around on the right? I've seen only one of those - very interesting looking. LD Quote LD
GreatLakesGramma Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 I don't know about the one in the picture, but the one I saw was symmetrical. Outta Here Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 GLG, I think you might have seen a Kia Soul, or a Nissan Cube. Quote
GreatLakesGramma Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 No, I have not seen either of those vehicles. The Scion is the only one I've seen that looks anything like these. It caught my eye because the contours are so SQUARE. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. GreatLakesGramma Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 LynnDel, I looked up rear photos of Scion XB's, and they were all symmetrical too. So you must be thinking of a different vehicle. Outta Here Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I guess I should have said, LynnDel, I think you might be thinking of the Soul or Cube. (Sorry.) Quote
