Moderators Bravus Posted July 6, 2009 Moderators Posted July 6, 2009 Old and busted: New hotness: They're automatic, they're systematic, they're hydromatic... Well, they're graduated (not your grandpa's bifocals) and photochromic (not your grandma's sunnies). Taking a little getting used to, but sooo much better than the old ones. Quote Truth is important

Members phkrause Posted July 6, 2009 Members Posted July 6, 2009 Cool Bravus, but couldn't you get a closer shot! hahahaha hehehehe hohohoho pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Amelia Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I don't think I've ever seen gray eyes before. Cool I was told that I couldn't get photochromic on bi-focals. How did they do it? jasd Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Hmmm, checking out thems pupils. Nice specs - a bit jazzier and they could be Palin's. Quote
Woody Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Yes. I agree. I never thought Bravus would have such respect for Palin. But I am impressed that she got Sarah Spectacles. They ARE hot. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Gerr Posted July 7, 2009 Moderators Posted July 7, 2009 HEY BRAVUS ARE the new glasses bifocals with out the lines??? dgrimm60 If I can answer for him - yes & no. Bifocals have just far and near vision separated by a line. He calls it graduated & photochromic. If it's anything like mine, that means it has a variable focal point that starts up close and progressively or gradually increases to infinity. When Varilux came up with this new lens many years ago, I tried it but had to go back to bifocals. Wearing them made me feel like I was in a small boat in the middle of the ocean. Several years later, the optometrist convinced me to try them again. It was like night and day. They don't make you feel like bobbing in the ocean anymore. I wouldn't have any other kind of glasses anymore. They automatically darken when out in the sun, so you don't have to carry another pair of glasses. Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted July 7, 2009 Author Moderators Posted July 7, 2009 Yep, Gerry has it right. The top of the glasses is correct for my long vision and the bottom for close up stuff, but with a gradual transition. It means moving one's head a bit differently to use the right bit for the right job, but it's much less intrusive than bifocal. Quote Truth is important
Planey Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 ...(not your grandpa's bifocals) ...(not your grandma's sunnies). You're glasses may not be grandparent types, but methinks the possibility of Dave being a grandfather may not be beyond the foreseeable future. Your beautiful daughters are growing older every day... Moderators Bravus Posted July 8, 2009 Author Moderators Posted July 8, 2009 Indeed! I was just thinking today that we are at least getting past the possibility of teen pregnancy... not that they've given us any worries at all on that score... but given another 5-10 years (Cassie is 18 now) it's a distinct possibility. Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted July 8, 2009 Author Moderators Posted July 8, 2009 No, the oldest: the younger one is almost 16, so I guess a little while to go to avoid teen pregnancy entirely... But she was a bit stunned this morning when I mentioned that her aunt, my sister, got pregnant at about the age she is now... Quote Truth is important
