Administrators Gail Posted July 7, 2009 Administrators Posted July 7, 2009 On the day of Michael Jackson's memorial (I think it's going on as I write), I'm curious to know who likes wandering through cemeteries? I find them fascinating, as they give clues to local life. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted July 7, 2009 Author Administrators Posted July 7, 2009 Once I went through a cemetery in a neighbouring town and saw that there were many babies buried there. I found out later that there were babies of nuns from the mission there... olger Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Same thing here in Darke and Mercer county, Ohio. Darke for sure... g Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Liz Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I love walking through cemeteries, especially really old ones. There is one in particular in South Texas, that has special meaning. They also put meaningful epitaphs on them too. Plus, you can see how people believed and how popular culture has shaped people's views about death. Moderators lazarus Posted July 7, 2009 Moderators Posted July 7, 2009 I wish I could spend a night at a cemetery. You will get your opportunity, as we all will. I hope it will be far in the future. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Einstein
Moderators Kevin H Posted July 7, 2009 Moderators Posted July 7, 2009 Yes, I love going through older cemetaries and reading the stones, visiting the graves of loved ones and celebrities. On Memorial day after marching in the parade I go back and look at the graves of my grandparents, aunt and others that I knew while growing up and the new graves and sadly come around names of people that I knew and went to school with. Members phkrause Posted July 8, 2009 Members Posted July 8, 2009 Not sure I care to go to cemetaries, not that I get spooked or anything. Have gone to my fathers when I visit my mom in Florida, a few times. Don't mind going to the Vietnam or Holocaust memorials though. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
