Doug Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I posed this same question somewhere else and a few people said it was creepy, not the vibe I want to come across with. Most of the people I know are usually older than me. I don't have a problem with that, I get lots of good advice. But lately I have been getting friend requests on Facebook from younger people in my church, recently from one girl who is 17 and another one who is 19. basically I know them through our youth pastor of our church and another older mutual friend who is 38 and a youth minister as well. I did also add 2 girls that I know through the guy that is 38 and a mutual friend. Basically i know them through him because we would all hang out on Saturday nights and eat yogurt at a certain restaurant in town. I added them strictly because I find them interesting and would like to know them better, not interested in dating them or anything like that. I consider them part of my church family, I have sever other people in my church that i have known for a while as friends on Facebook. Last Saturday night myself and several youths went over to the highrise and watched the fireworks. Afterwords one of the girls who is 19 invited us all to her apartment, we watched SNL and i think one movie. It was myself, my brother (28), and everyone else was under 20 years old. When my brother left I left as well. I try to stick to events where I know there will be other people around my age or older. Quote
Outta Here Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I agree with dgrimm60. Better to be safe than sorry. At least Facebook is rather public--as long as you keep it all out in the open, there's probably not much harm that could come of it. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted July 9, 2009 Administrators Posted July 9, 2009 Good to see that you are getting more social, Doug! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted July 9, 2009 Administrators Posted July 9, 2009 I don't think it's creepy, unless those are ALL the friends you attract! I like when people connect socially with people of all various ages! And skin colours, cultures, education, religion and physical and mental abilities as well. What's stopping you? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Liz Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I don't think it's creepy, just keep widening your circle of friends. You need to use common sense no matter who your friends are, so that shouldn't stop you from going out and having a good time.
