Outta Here Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Why can't members here use the ignore feature for moderators?? I understand the need to have communication between administrators, but why can't we ignore moderators when they are not acting as moderators? Quote
Woody Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Good point Aubrey. I suspect that a majority of posts here are from moderators. And at times they can be very annoying. We should be able to "ignore" them. Then if they do need to act in their capacity of 'moderator' ... they can send a PM or temporarily lift or disable the ignore feature. Amelia Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I believe it's the way the program is written. Not sure if it's anything Stan can tweek or not. Outta Here Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 Well, thanks for looking into it anyway! Maybe someday there will be a feature. I'll try to use my own judgment in the mean time. Blessings! Quote

Outta Here Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 Spare a thought for the reverse situation, too - mods can't ignore *anyone*! They could if they chose NOT to be a moderator. Then again, I suppose I can choose NOT to post or read here any longer too. My bad for stayin'. Quote
carolaa Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Just a question since I've never ignored anyone. How do you keep up with threads if you ignore some of the posters? Quote
Dr. Shane Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I have never put anyone on ignore either but I often skip over posts by certain members. Not so much because they insult or irritate me. It is just that some members repeat themselves so much I don't have to read each of their posts to know what they are saying. They like to beat the same drum over and over. To each their own. One of the purposes this forum serves is to let people vent on their pet issues. As long as they don't insult or attack others personally, I have no problem with them repeating themselves. Outta Here Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 Just a question since I've never ignored anyone. How do you keep up with threads if you ignore some of the posters? As of right now, I only have two people on ignore. These are persons who repeatedly post offensive and rude remarks; irrelevant comments; and provoking issues. I do not find those posts amusing nor helpful in any way. Quite often, I am irritated by them and the irritation stays with me through the day. In order to enjoy the otherwise fruitful company here, I put those persons on "ignore" so that the rest of my day is pleasant. It is easy to keep up with the threads as those posts are generally repetitive (as Shane said) and most often not on topic. Quote

GreatLakesGramma Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Spare a thought for the reverse situation, too - mods can't ignore *anyone*! So that's why the ignore feature doesn't show up for me! Liz Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Just a question since I've never ignored anyone. How do you keep up with threads if you ignore some of the posters? Just tagging on to what Aubrey said... When you put someone on ignore, and they reply to a thread, it just shows up as an empty box, and it says something like "you are ignoring this poster". So that way you don't have to read what that person said and still keep up with the thread. Now if someone quotes your ignored poster, it will show up in "their" box, so you will still have to use your own discernment. However, it is still nice not to see a big chunk of what someone is posting if you don't want to. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Neil D Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Recent developments in software now allows a remote switch that prevents the email from being posted all the while giving the poster the sense that his post is actually being posted . Results have varied from the thread being simply ignored by all [as all turned on the switch] and the thread becoming a one person rant. Polls show that this feature is mixed in users opinion....
