I was watching a video from Dr.Peter Ruckman about "why I am not a Seventh Day Adventist". This is the Video:

At one time in my life I too was saying such a thing. Then someone asked me how come we have a week? Well Dah--it's because of the sabbath. Now lets hear someone argue with that.

I agree with you Emma. That word "remember" is a significant one; the plain implication is that mankind are liable to set it aside and forget it.

Those teachers that venture to say that the Sabbath was not introduced until the Law was given, need only look back about 4 chapters in Exodus to see the story of the manna.

Ex 16:22 "And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.

And he said to them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning."

This man claims that no body knew about the Sabbath before the Sinai

Exodus 16 proves without any doubt whatever that the children of Israel knew of the Sabbath about a month before Sinai. See chapter 16, verses 23 and 28. This last verse indicates that the children of Israel must have known about the Sabbath some time before the events recorded in chapter 16.

Also, in Exodus 18, Moses tells his father-in-law that he "makes known the statutes of God and His laws."

Therefore, it is obvious that the children of Israel knew laws and statutes of God, including the Sabbath, BEFORE Sinai. We don't know what those statutes and laws of God were, but they obviously included the Sabbath.

It's interesting, too, that Exodus 5: 5 says Pharaoh found fault with Moses for making Israel "rest from their labors," the exact same language used of God when He rested on the Sabbath in Gen. 2: 1-3. Ellen White refers to a Sabbath reform among the children of israel while they were still in Egypt, and Ex. 5: 5 is a reflection of that reform. They had forgotten the Sabbath during their enslavement.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Christ said "The Sabbath was MADE for Mankind, not mankind MADE for the Sabbath" in Mark 2:27. That text speaks to the "making of both" mankind AND the Sabbath which we see clearly in Genesis 1-2:4.

Which means that the Day that is "made holy" and Sanctified according to Gen 2:1-3 was specifically made FOR mankind. (It is not a case of God making the day for Himself to observe as so many had imagined).

I don't know how someone can say that the Sabbath was made only for the jews ,when at creation he rested on the seventh day, then he blessed it. and sanctified it.Sanctify means:to make sacred or holy.as Bob mentioned "The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath" God instituted the Sabbath to be a Source of benefit and blessing to the human family.Jesus says "The Sabbath was made for man; and the necessary inference is that from the beginning man knew the primary uses of the day,so before the giving of the law from Sinai the Obligation of the Sabbath was understood.

What you say here is true. The fact that God made the seventh-day of the week "holy" and "blessed" indicates some kind of appointment God has with mankind. God clearly didn't make it holy for Himself alone but for the humans He'd just created. God didn't need a physical rest and neither did Adam and Eve, who had been created just the day before. The verse obviously means a spiritual rest that God and man (i.e., Adam and Eve) enjoyed together. It wouldn't make any sense for God to have made it holy and blessed and then kept it a secret from the very ones that Jesus Christ said it was made to benefit.

Yes John, I will have to agree with you. I have heard the argument that when Jacob died the physicians took a full forty days to embalm him, for that was the time required for embalming. The argument was if it took them this long, then they must not have kept the sabbath. But then, I don't buy that either. (Gen. 50:2,3)
