Dr. Shane Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 A number of years ago I noticed how many successful female singers are also attractive. Hmmm, I thought. One's attractiveness can't be related to their ability to sing. No, I thought, but it is probably related to their ability to sell records. More recently I have noticed that many female anchors are quite attractive. I could probably rattle off ten to twenty of them from various networks if given a few minutes to think (I am a news junkie). Spanish networks dress many of their females anchors up in very provocative clothing. Yet to listen to them speak, these are all well-educated, informed and smart women. But, of course, there can't be a link between beauty and brains anymore than between singing and attractiveness. Of course the cynics say that sex sells. While that is true I think there is more to it than that. Our brains actually create pleasant chemicals when we are around attractive people. I don't think it necessarily has to be sex appeal. I think I even get a different vibe when I am talking to well-groomed and well-dressed men than I do when conversing with dirty, scraggly guys that don't care much for their appearance. So I don't think it is even entirely a sexual attraction thing although I certainly admit that plays a role in networks choosing such attractive personalities. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Why do these TV/radio types think that we are just sitting there panting waiting to know who is "reading" the news etc. Why do they have to give us their names at the beginning and the end?
