Woody Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 How much sanctification is required? 10% 50% 75% 100% ? I assume that 100% would mean we are sinless. Do we ever reach 100%? The Bible is full of requirements. If we are any kind of Bible student ... we should clearly see how terribly we fall short. So .... please don't give me the excuse that you haven't been shown where you fall short. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 Thanks dgrimm. I guess we do reach it when we die ... since it is the work of a lifetime. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted July 25, 2009 Members Posted July 25, 2009 That makes sense to me Redwood. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted July 25, 2009 Administrators Posted July 25, 2009 Thanks dgrimm. I guess we do reach it when we die ... Yes, the state of the dead is a state without sin - 100% sinless. How many dead people do you know of that have committed a sin? But to be sinlessly perfect is way short of the righteousness that is objective of salvation. To be sinless is to do nothing wrong or bad, which dead people satisfy, even the ones truly evil during their life. To be righteous is to do what is right and good which has limitless possibilities and obviously requires someone very much actively alive. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Moderators Gerr Posted July 30, 2009 Moderators Posted July 30, 2009 How much sanctification is required? 10% 50% 75% 100% ? 100%. Quote: I assume that 100% would mean we are sinless. IMHO, that's a wrong assumption. It does mean 100% commitment/surrender to Christ. It does mean stopping a life of rebellion. Quote: Do we ever reach 100%? I don't think there's any such thing as being a little bit pregnant. You are either 100% for Christ or you are against Him. There is no middle ground. He said, "He that is not with me is against me." You are either 100% justified or you are not. Either 100% set apart (sanctified) for God or you are not. Quote: The Bible is full of requirements. True. Quote
Woody Posted July 30, 2009 Author Posted July 30, 2009 So those who are 100% committed and 100% sanctified will go around sinning? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted July 30, 2009 Author Posted July 30, 2009 HEY REDWOOD CAN sanctification be reached I would say yes can we reach sanctification no you may ask those 2 statement cancel out each other dgrimm60 Good Point dgrimm/ If I get what you are saying .... ALL things are possible through Christ. But we are human and we don't allow sanctification in our life. That is why Christ at the second coming has to complete the task. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted July 30, 2009 Author Posted July 30, 2009 Amen Quote: "Like Him. This points to the fulfillment of God's plan for fallen man -- restoration to the divine image...It is God's design to restore that similitude by giving man victory over sin and over every temptation. The restoration will be completed AT THE SECOND COMING." 7 BC 649 Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Gerr Posted July 31, 2009 Moderators Posted July 31, 2009 So those who are 100% committed and 100% sanctified will go around sinning? See 1 Jn 3:6-9, in different translations, but especially in the Amplified. Quote
olger Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Morris Venden told me to tell you that God can give us total victory in Jesus. He said people need to stop dragging their theology down to match their experience. He said if you reply "SO ARE YOU PERFECT?" to tell you that it is none of your business. I like that, Venden right Victory possible Sanctification mandatory G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Moderators Gerr Posted August 1, 2009 Moderators Posted August 1, 2009 Hey, Red,what did 1 Jn 3:6-9 say? Quote
Woody Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 Praise God .... I am 'perfect'. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Richard Holbrook Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Venden rightVictory possible Sanctification mandatory I haven't heard any Morris Venden in a long time. Quote
Woody Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 Sanctification is automatic. If one is baptized ... one is exposed to sanctification. And of course the sanctification picture is different and as varied as there are individuals. Of course one must remember .... we are perfect no matter what our sanctification picture looks like. Another word for sanctification would be: "The Christian Life". Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 Good Comment Woodie. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
olger Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 If you bear testimony to yourself, your testimony is not efficacious. (Loosely translated) the G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Woody Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 I can only testify to what I know and what God has done in my life. That IS my testimony. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
olger Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 And they overcame the enemy by the word of their testimony.. the G Ps. (Testimony good. enemy bad.) Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
BobRyan Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 And they overcame the enemy by the word of their testimony.. the G Ps. (Testimony good. enemy bad.) As the Baptists say -- Preach it!
