Neil D Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 This comes from an article recently referred to- I remember listening to the African-American mother of a friend of mine growing up in Detroit, who told her children to hide from the police if they ever were lost while my mother told us kids to look for a policeman if we were far away from home. The question that I have is- Does Morgan Freeman think of policemen as friendly or as contributing to the racial problems of America? or of the SDA church? Is the mentality of the Black man different than the mentality of the white man and how does that affect the responses from each individual? How does the SDA church respond to those reactions? olger Posted July 31, 2009 Author Posted July 31, 2009 I can't speak for Morgan, but I can hear him. Video good, g Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Neil D Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Replying in either bumper sticker mode or copping out from giving a solid answer only intensifies the problem...seeking a solution by thinking outside these areas give a greater chance that you MAY reduce the problem.... so, to revert to your tactics, Olger, you are either the problem or part of the solution....So, since you obviously think [comment regarding Olger's thinking ability removed by author] that your opinion is in line with Morgan's, and since he is not here to speak, what is YOUR opinion to the question that I have proposed? olger Posted July 31, 2009 Author Posted July 31, 2009 HEY OLGER SO why call the people Bob or Bobbette??? is it like calling people here JOHN DOE AND JANE DOE??? dgrimm60 Just funnin, Dgrimm. Liberals (Hi Neil) often have an overdeveloped sense of racial superiority, so just call black black, white white, dark dark, and light light. Now if a person says "I Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that God has raised Him from the dead and I repent of my sins." I would call them a believer. Joy to you, G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Kountzer Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 God is no respecter of color, so I try not to be. It ain't easy. Sda doctrine, the 3rd angels' msgs supercede any sub genre of thought, including black history. I remember when there was only black history week. Black history month seems sort of patronizing. A person can go to the library and read and research black history, american history anytime they want. I often do. Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. Joy to you, G Reverend Neil mode-on OMG, there are Liberals among us-a! Heaven help us, LORD ALMIGHTY! OH LORD, prooo-tect us from the woooords of the liberal. Keep us from listening and possibly be lead astray. Lord, we know that the Liberals are ambassadors from the devil hisownself. And we know that the woards of the liberal are stroonng and could possibly lead us astray....Protect us, oh Lord...Keep us clooose to you...AAAAAaaaaaamen...... Reverend Neil mode-off For those who may be new, pondering who this "Neil" is....I have been described as being "Liberal" by some here. Privately, there are those who consider me very conservative. I've never really said one way or another...I let those who interact with me find out themselves...And so, [looking at the previous paragraph] I ask forgiveness for the over dramatic.... Kountzer Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 It is not unusual for black actors, entertainers, etc, to become a bit more disdainful of the culture they come from once they reach a certain level of success. Freeman's statements in this video are another example of this. Some examples from the past: Sammie Davis Jr hugging President Nixon, basketball star Charles Barkley claiming, at one time to be a republican. This was before his latest DUI incident. Once a bit actor is discovered by a wider audience, they have 'crossed over', in other words, they are not about to ruffle the feathers of their newly cultivated broad fan base by sounding like a black radical, a la Malcolm X or Stokely Carmichael. olger Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 I like Ricky Carmichael much better than Stokely Carmichael. But I can love both. Conservatism good. Whining bad. the G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Members phkrause Posted August 1, 2009 Members Posted August 1, 2009 Kountzer, I'm not sure that I agree with you 100% on that. There are many African American's that are very successful, like Spike Lee, Ali, etc., that are not all like that. From what I've seen of Morgan Freeman, starting back from his days on Sesame Street, he has always been well spoken of everyone no matter there race, color, etc. Not sure why you mention Charles Barkley in that manner, he has always been and still is very outspoken about race issue's, but he does it very tastefully (for lack of a better word at this moment) and I admire him for that. Now Spike Lee seems to be a different story. He seems to me to be always bitter at white people, but I still have much respect for him, because he is very good at his trade, but that doesn't mean that I agree with his additute towards white people. Just my thoughts on what you've mentioned. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Kountzer Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Morgan Freeman has been has been a household name for 25 yrs or so, give or take. I am not sure, because I haven't paid that much attention. I was aware of him as an actor before he becaome a known person in hollywood. I didn't know his name, but I recognized him when I saw him on tv or in the movies. Freeman now is not a black actor, he's Morgan Freeman an acclaimed actor who happens to be black. He's famous enough to where if he locked himself out of his mansion, and he an his limo driver tried to force open the door, and a bystander called 911 and reported it, more than likely the reporting police officer would recognize him, lol. With that in mind perhaps he feels he can afford to kick a little dust on black history month. DB Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. olger Posted August 2, 2009 Author Posted August 2, 2009 Thanks. It is also quite possible that Morgan was just simply speaking how he feels. yo, G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
