More fires result in more smoke...More smoke results in less sunlight which results in a overall cooling ...however, the blacken earth results in an absorbtion of heat from the sun, warming the ground. The particles from the smoke will rain out eventually, and there is, caused by the fire, more carbon dioxide which will trap more heat in the earths atomsphere...more heat, results in more evaporation which results in more clouds which results in more precipitate and the new growth in the blacken areas will use more carbon NEXT spring...hopefully... guibox Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 We live in the area of the West Kelowna fire. The fire wasn't that far from us, but luckily, we avoided having to be evacuated. 3 fires started up in one day and another the day after! Hmmm...something fishy there! Only one fire is getting bigger (terrace mountain fire) growing to over 7500 hectares. Luckily, in all these fires, only three houses have burned to the ground! That is amazing considering! There is an oppressive haze of smoke throughout both Kelowna and West Kelowna from that fire. Quote www.corbel.theacaistory.com
