Stan Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 I am so thankful for the girls who where released today. This must have taken a team to arrange. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 4, 2009 Members Posted August 4, 2009 I thought this was great too!!! Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Woody Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 They could have managed to scoot a little closer together and had a smile on their face. They look like they both just had a root canal. But then this is real American politics. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 There are a couple of reasons to NOT smile.... First, most Koreans pose for pictures like this...They don't like the smile on the face. Second, usually, the western diplomat will smile, or at least look less stern than Bill does. I would suppose he is representing the US and we are not happy about this hostage situation where N. Korea blackmails us into retreaving 2 American journalists. and 3rd, I am glad he was the high ranking diplomat to get those girls...Yes sir, he couldn't have don't it without my vote... smile Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. olger Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I can hear it now (Clinton raspy voice) "Say you wouldn't happen to have those girl's phone #'s would you...?" Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
bonnie Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I can hear it now (Clinton raspy voice) "Say you wouldn't happen to have those girl's phone #'s would you...?" However they got home I am glad they are safe. Our local news is reporting that it was all decided prior to Bill Clinton leaving the states. They would have not wanted to make such a media event in case of failure. Seems if accurate news Clinton or someone had to make "apologies" for the journalists" or ???? Woody Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I think it would have been more appropriate for the girls to make apologizes for Clinton. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 What I read in the news is that the Korean news reported that Clinton apologized on behalf of the US, which Hillary Clinton said did not happen. So I would guess that Kim wanted him to go there just so he could make that claim. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. I am glad they were released but what were they doing so close to a danger zone unprotected? If they did go into N. Korea they might have anticipated their capture. Now what will the process be to get the "alleged" hikers out of Iran? What in the world would make intelligent human beings wander around unprotected in Iran. I hope they are released as the two journalists were, but to put others why put others and yourself at risk?? Laying the responsibility to get you out of the jam you got yourself into. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted August 6, 2009 Administrators Posted August 6, 2009 As I understood the situation, their entry into N Korea may have been accidental. Boundaries between countries, especially in remote areas are not well marked. I have crossed over international borders where there was nothing apparent on the ground, no sign, no border patrols, etc. In my case, if we hadn't had GPS or knowledgeable local people with us we would have had no idea we had illegally crossed into another country. Play around with Google earth satelite images in remote parts of the earth and see if you can always see the international boundaries, especially in third world countries. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
