Stan Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Ever noticed that most, if not all VP's or Presidents of the Church are over 6 feet tall? Thought about this yesterday when I was with Mike Ryan. Had lunch with Paulsen last weekend... another tall one.. as is Folkenberg (meeting with him today) Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com

Dr. Shane Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I think in the subconscious we do esteem taller people as being smarter and better leaders. Physically, we look up to tall people and tall people look down on short people. Of course there are many successful businessmen, doctors and scholars that are short. However I think in the world were perceptions have as much to do with promotion as does ability, taller people do have an edge. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted August 8, 2009 Administrators Posted August 8, 2009 This quote I just read this morning in the book Blink by Malcolm Gladwell: Quote: In the US population, about 14.5 percent of all men are six feet or taller. Among CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, that number is 58 percent. Even more striking, in the general American population, 3.9 percent of adult men are six foot two or taller. Among my CEO sample, almost a third were six foot two or taller. We prefer tall, dark and handsome for our leaders. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Moderators Gerr Posted August 8, 2009 Moderators Posted August 8, 2009 That goes back to ancient times. Saul was head & shoulders taller than everybody else. Shaq for president! Quote
ChildofChrist Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 My mother was short, like 4'8 more or less. Her dad was of short stature also. How much of it had to do with diet is unknown. I recall leaving school one afternoon early and suddenly realized that I was taller than she was. I started to giggle. It was almost by instinct she knew what I was thinking. Her remarks were, "I can still bring you down." and "The taller one is, the greater the fall." Some people can be on the shorter side but in one's eyes or opinion, they are a force to be dealt with! teehe Quote Wakan Tanka Kici Un ~~Child of Christ~~

If we look at small business owners making $250K or more I think we would see a lot more short people in the mix. That is because the small business owner's success depends much more on what he knows rather than what he looks like. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Woody Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Perhaps you failed to notice .... but Laz was joking. And I was joking in return. All in fun. I suspect Laz recognized that .... but if he didn't I would apologize. Hydrocephalus however is "above" the belt. (Just a little more humor in case you didn't recognize it.)
