Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 12, 2009 Members Posted August 12, 2009 If you have never seen this before, please watch. God does the same thing for us. We are so incapable of running the race of life that God does it all for us. We just submit to Him, he does the rest. A True Story and Video A son says to his father: 'Dad, would you be willingly to run a marathon with me?' The father, despite his age and a heart disease, says 'YES'. And they run that marathon, together. The son asks: 'Dad, can you run another marathon with me?' Again father says 'YES'. They run another marathon, together. One day the son asks his father: ?Dad would please do the Iron Man with me?' Now just in case you wouldn't know, 'The Iron Man' is the toughest triathlon in existence; 4km swimming, then 180 km by bike, and finally another 42 km running, in one stroke. Again father says 'YES' Maybe this doesn't 'touch' you yet by heart ... until you see this movie (put on sound!): Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Guest Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 That was great. It made that young man happy. Quote

LifeHiscost Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Maybe this doesn't 'touch' you yet by heart ... until you see this movie (put on sound!) Sometime ago I saw the same story and individuals. I remember then being touched by the sacrifice of the father for his son. The song that went with it this time caused the tears to flow. Probably partially because, having lost my own children by divorce, I remembered all those times when it was possible, I didn't take advantage of the time I had to spend with them. A lesson to be learned, if it bears doing do it today, for tomorrow may be too late. " He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! " Revelation 22:20 Thanks for posting, rudywoofs. Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Dr. Rich Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 It was nice and sweet--but the hidden message was that we don't have to do anything anymore because their are no conditions for salvation other than to just believe in Jesus. How sad! Quote
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 It was nice and sweet--but the hidden message was that we don't have to do anything anymore because their are no conditions for salvation other than to just believe in Jesus. How sad! That is stretching it. The young man in the video was incapable of doing anything for himself. The father made it possible for him to accomplish it by doing for him what he could not, just as our Heavenly Father does for us. He makes it possible for us to live a victorious life by doing for us what we cannot, giving us both the will and the strength to withstand temptation. Without Him, we would have neither. Those who believe they are free to live as they please because of grace, are rejecting God's gift. That would be more like the son staying home while his father did the marathons alone. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Guest Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 No GLG, Dr. Rich believes you can be righteous under your own power. He says you don't need grace. Quote

How sad! Wow! How pessimistic..! First, the boy asked the father....Just as we ask the Father... 2nd, the boy was there, and gave the father all the credit...yet he can claim that he crossed the finish line too...all the while giveing credit to the father, who powered him, pushed him, pulled him, and literally carried him over the finish line .....If that doesn't describe the relationship of the Christian life, ...well, I just don't know what God can do in the life of a Christian.... How about the person who has received grace and now is so grateful and loves the Lord and His bride so much, he/she finds great pleasure in doing what the Word leads to? "For the fruit (the effect, the product) of the Light or the Spirit [consists] in every form of kindly goodness, uprightness of heart, and trueness of life. And try to learn [in your experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [let your lives be constant proofs of what is most acceptable to Him]." Ephesians 5:9,10 AMP Brackets their's Blessings! LifeHiscost Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 It was nice and sweet--but the hidden message was that we don't have to do anything anymore because their are no conditions for salvation other than to just believe in Jesus. How sad! "What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." James 2:14-26 NKJV Regards! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

That is the way it should be for all true Christians, though that doesn't mean we will always feel it. Christianity is not based on feelings, but on faith, and total trust in and reliance on God. Like the young man trusted his father and relied on him. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Dr. Rich Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 RH--don't put words in my mouth--for w/o the Holy Spirit, we would be toast. It is the Holy Spirit that leads us into ALL truth thru the words written by Jesus written down by the eyewitnesses who remembered them correctly because of the Holy Spirit. To receive the Holy Spirit one must first seek spiritual truth. Quote
Dr. Rich Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Yes, I agree GLG too. And it was a great story!!! Not to many fathers would be willing to do this--don't you think? It is nice to have a Father that will! Quote
