Guest Posted April 6, 2002 Posted April 6, 2002 in the last couple days, i have been thinking about old songs that we used to sing when i was little... songs like... ~sweet Jesus, sweet Jesus, what a wonder you are, you are brighter than the morning star...~ and ~He's the lily of the valley, he's the bright and morning star. he's the fairest of ten thousand, everybody ought to know~ if any of you recognize these songs, and this particular genre, or have an idea of where i can find other songs like this... just the old familiar melodies, i would like your input. <img border="0" title="" alt="[smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> Quote
Moderators LynnDel Posted April 6, 2002 Moderators Posted April 6, 2002 "Sweet Jesus", I believe, was made popular in SDA circles by the Heritage Singers in the early 70s. You can find the lyrics on the internet (I did, by doing a Google search for "Sweet Jesus", "what a wonder"). The other song is older. I never heard it sung as a special, but as a chorus in many sing-alongs at least as long ago as the early 60s, which is about as far back as my memory goes. The internet is a great place to find lyrics. Old songbooks have these songs, too. Visit music stores, old book stores, and Angwin should be a goldmine for SDA yard sales! LynnDel Quote LD
flyingveeoe2001 Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 Diamond, if you go to Google and type in name of song and then the word "lyrics" (without the quotes) you can find just about any song you want to find. Quote
