Say you opened a restaurant.

What would you call it and what would be on the menu?

Hey, that's actually something I'm considering for the future!

I'm not sure what I would call it... "Tree of Life"? *shrugs*

I'm envisioning mostly Italian food... although I read that India has the best vegetarian cuisine, and I do like the Indian food that I've had...

If anybody wants to open a vegatarian restuarant, the Denver Metro area and more specificly Boulder County is the plact to open such. There are a lot of people living here who patronize such. Naropa University is located in Boulder (check it out online), along with Colorado State. Sunflower Markets is expanding throughout the Metro area. Whole Foods (Is that the present name--my wife shops.) is doing well and expanding. This is the home of Silk Milk.

Once you open you can build up clientile by advertising through www.restaurant.com Check it out online. There are a lot of Metro restaurants who do such in the Metro Area.

How about a niche restaurant...a veggie breakfast restaurant...

Not only would it have the traditional breakfast vegganized [veggie saugages, veggie bacon, ect] but other breakfasts, like 10 grain hot cereal, french toasts with whole grain breads, along with traditional light breads, whole wheat pancakes with berries, or pancakes and eggs [with various syrups and honeys]....And then there is the various granolas, blueberry granola, strawberry granola, ect. with fresh LOCAL fruits....

And it would be a bakery of breads.........

Would it fly? I don't know....

Perhaps it might fly. However, I suspect that you would have to be a little more creative?

Ever try hitting "Clarette's" at Walla Walla? They serve veggie sausages and they always have a line-up!

Mine would be a bistro, concentrating on soup and lunches.

On the menu would be: a different homemade soup everyday, like lentil, leekie/potato, chicken(like) noodle, borscht, minestrone, carrot, broccoli/cheese, etc.

I would offer also little entrees, like chili, cabbage rolls, stroganoff, casseroles of various types, lasagna- things that could easily be offered in a bowl or takeaway dish.

Drinks- steamed almond milk, herb teas, juices and/or smoothies.

Fresh fruit and fresh bread.

Don't have a name for it, though. :(

Well, I would invest in a 'Subway' franchise.

Or, I would open a soup-n-sandwich restaurant, and call it

'The Green Eatery"

Well, a Subway recently opened on our campus and there are massive lines outside it all the time, so I think you're onto something there, Zeta. Personally, I hate them, and tend to talk about the 'Subway stench' as I walk past...

My restaurant would likely be a steak joint, I'm afraid. bwink

Not sure about a name... Made Out Of Meat perhaps.

Is there a such thing as "roo" patties over there Down Under, Bravus? Do people use them as a food source as they do ostriches or buffalo here?

Mine would be called "Vegetarian Home Cooking" or something like that. I would specialize in my own creations, dishes that are similar to what everyone eats, but made healthy by substituting healthy ingredients. However, I am actually hoping to write a cookbook, rather than open a restaurant, once I accumulate enough recipes. Not working on it right now though. Trying to de-junk and reorganize my whole house, so I will have time to do things like that, instead of having to navigate an obstacle course every time I clean, hunt for things that should be easier to find, etc. If only my guys would cooperate!

Yeah, (kanga)roo is very good meat, lean and healthy. They are also much better adapted to the Australian climate, and their soft feet do much less damage to the fragile soils than do the hard feet of cattle. Their flatulence also contains no methane, so in general they are *much* better for the environment than cattle. If an Aussie is going to remain a meat-eater, roo steaks and burgers should be an important option.

They're marsupials, and I don't think they're rodents, though there are 'kangaroo rats' that look a bit like them...

Oh, and I guess I forgot to say... they don't 'divide the hoof', so I guess they're technically unclean meat, though quite how a scheme developed in the Middle East applies to marsupials is not at all clear to me...

Yeah, good food help keep people coming....but the atomsphere is what keeps them coming....Not sure if an "intellitual" atonsphere is good, or something abit more contempory, like music or like a breakfast sports bar.....Ha...maybe with a 'political' theme to it...NOT! Hahahahah....
