Administrators Gail Posted September 2, 2009 Administrators Posted September 2, 2009 Do your family members share the same faith, or are you the only one who is __________? Tell us of the generation you grew up in (parents, siblings), and of the generation following (children). AND- Is your family supportive of where you are at, faith-wise? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 All of my family are SDAs. I grew up in a wonderful Christian and SDA family. My brother and sister both stayed in the church. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Liz Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Growing up just our immediate family were SDA's, all the Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles on both sides, were Baptists, Jehova's Witnesses and non practicing "good people". Now, all of us kids married people that came into the church because of us, THEN they got married except me--I married my honey then he came into the faith. So even among the in-laws we are the only SDA's. Out of the four us raised in the faith there is one divorce, and 15 kids, the four of us are still in the church and two spouses. Of the 15 kids, I am still raising mine, three others attend regularly. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Stan Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 That would mean that you had more posts on the days that are being dropped off then the what you posted that day. It is the 30 day running balance. Guest Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Born and raised SDA. Spent most of my life out of the church, but I'm back to stay now. Got three older sisters, two in, and one out. Mom died 3 years ago, Dad is almost dead, he's in the final stages of Alzhiemers, laying in the bed at my sister's house. Mom and Dad were both SDA. Quote

Members phkrause Posted September 3, 2009 Members Posted September 3, 2009 My father was born Jewish in Lutz, Poland. Spent 2 years in a german labor camp before spending the next 5 in 3 different concentration camps. 4 of his brothers died in the polish army. His father and mother and wife and child were put to death in a concentration camp. His 3 sisters also died in concentration camps. His brother that was just older than he was, my dad being the youngest of nine, escape to russia. When my father got out of the concentration camps he was pretty sick, my mom was the one taking care of him and they eventually got married. She was german, pretty ironick (sp) wouldn't you think. Anyway she was lutheran. After me and my brother were born we moved to NYC. My father had quite a few relatives and people he knew from poland. My mom wanted to look for a church or something because she still believe in a God. My father wanted nothing to do with God. He figured if God allowed all the troubles that the Jewish people have gone through all these years, he wasn't interested. Anyway my Mom found this german bible worker that started giving her bible studies. She also happened to be a SDA bible worker from the brooklyn, german SDA church. So my mom took me and my brother on 2 buses and 1 train ride to church each sabbath. Than she asked about a jewish SDA church and they told he there was one in the Bronx. And it wasn't that far from where we were living at the time. So we started going there. Eventually my dad started going to church with us. But his brother and his wife you already didn't like my mom because she was german, really didn't like that at all. Some still excepted us most didn't want anything to do with us. Well anyway my father went to sleep in the lord 11 years ago this november, my mom is 83 and living in florida and still going strong in the church, I never really left and it wasn't because I was a good SDA, but I really didn't know of any other church that followed the bible as the SDAs did. Married a adventist girl and she settle me sown a bit. My brother is not in the church anymore. But he's married to a catholic girl that is one of the most christian people you ever want to meet. My daughter is another long story. I'll keep that for another time. But the HS is working with us on her. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Members phkrause Posted September 3, 2009 Members Posted September 3, 2009 I guess Richard I should have broken it up into about 50 posts, maybe than I could catch up with you. Not going to happen. Thanks though. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
GoLions Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 My wife, I and our two children, are the only SDA's on either side. We are treated better now then before, but we are still seperate and maybe somewhat unequal. Maybe someday that will all change :) Quote
