SivartM Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I wish we had shows like that in the United States instead of all the junk that's on TV now... Dr. Shane Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Adventist TV offers a lot of good programming - not just dry preaching programs. Anyone can get Adventist TV by either buying a satellite dish from Glorystar (google it) or an internet TV box from MoIPTV (google it). Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Stan Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 SivartM I so agree with that. This type a show is closer to conversation our shows tend to be more confrontation. Just my humble opinion. Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
fccool Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I think to be fair... 1) Not all of the South African programming is such. 2) There quite a few similar American films that are quite powerful... some of the recent ones "Emperor's club", "Crash", "American History X"... or any of the Tyler Perry's productions that blast domestic abuse and other taboos. 3) Adventist programs are nowhere near in quality and bravado to face the real issues. I wish these were, but they are not. It's very difficult to make quality films when these undergo scrutiny of religious organizations which are too afraid to face the issue. Imagine an 3ABN film that shows teen struggling with pornography. LOL. Comparing most Christian programming today to the mainstream one... is like comparing a bicycle to a car. It's easy to videotape a sermon or a cooking show...it's fairly simple. It's pretty hard to produce a well written TV show or film that holds up in quality an content, but does not compromise the message, and does not afraid of "Christian taboos"... I've recently watched "8mm" with Nocolas Cage, and I cried... because we just can't make powerful movies like these. Movies that show the other side of the story. Quote
