Dr. Shane Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Perhaps you haven't heard of Kimba but if you have kids and SkyAngel, you probally have. []http://www.kimbawlion.com/RunningKimba1B.gif[/] So what do you think? My little boy always pretends to be a lion for a couple hours after watching Kimba. Fran Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Shane; I have never seen it, but it sure looks cute. My grandkids would love it! I will have to buy it! Thanks for the tip! Quote The greatest want of the world is the want of men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true & honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty..., men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.{Ed 57.3}

Amelia Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Kinda looks more like a mouse, person, feline; than a lion. Is this anime from Japan? GreatLakesGramma Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 I agree Amelia. Lions don't have such big ears. Of course, neither do mice, but for some reason they're always pictured in cartoons that way. The only animals I can think of right now with ears that large in proportion to their heads is bats. Dr. Shane Posted February 1, 2005 Author Posted February 1, 2005 Yes if is from Japan but was also used to make the Lion King Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Amelia Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Seems like something I would have watched growing up. But sadly never heard of it even though on the web site, it talks about NBC having shown it. Anthony! Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Brother Shane, I am curious... you bemoan SpongeBob SquarePants on this site, yet you endorse Kimba? This cartoon contains New Age themes and spiritism, just the same as The Lion King. Kimba tries to get humans and animals to live 'as one' because we are "all connected"... in other words, let go of your inhibitions (Christian moral standards) and prejudices (Christian spiritual discernment) and just be free (of your Christian God). This has been the New Age guilt trip on us from the beginning of the father of lies. Also, Kimba is guided by his deceased mother, Snowene, from the beyond. He sees her in the stars, etc. This is spiritism! How can you bear such a double-standard? Blessings, Anthony Quote
Dr. Shane Posted February 3, 2005 Author Posted February 3, 2005 Actually you assume I endorse it, brother Anthony. Do you know what happens when you assume? Well look at the word. ass - u - me That is right. You make an ass (stupid animal) out of u and me. I haven't watched any episodes all the way through. Have you or is your post just based off the site (not that anything would be wrong with that)? I assumed (I know, big mistake) that since it was on "Kids & Teen TV" on SkyAngel that it was OK. Do you believe the new age thought is such that it is a danger for our children to watch? Again, if you go back to my original post you will see I was asking for the opinion of all you folks that freaquent here and sharing that my son likes this cartoon. I am sorry if I mislead anyone. A little new age influence doesn't bother me too much but if it excessive I get concerned. Kimba the White Lion was created in Japan so the fact it would be influenced by eastern religion is not too surprising. So what do you think? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Planey Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Quote: A little new age influence doesn't bother me too much but if it excessive I get concerned. Cool. I have always thought that little sins are ok. It's only the biggies like murder and stealing that should worry us. And even stealing isn't a real concern unless we steal substantial amounts. Petty pilfering shouldn't worry us too much either, eh? Graeme /ps On a more serious note, I believe a subtle mix of truth with a little falsehood may be much more spiriually dangerous than blatant egregious paganism. Anthony! Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 My quote: Quote: ...you bemoan SpongeBob SquarePants on this site, yet you endorse Kimba? ...how can you bear such a double-standard? Shane, I apologize. I am wrong to have written the above regarding your post. You were asking for an honest opinion and I did assume you were endorsing the cartoon. Please forgive my error and my critical spirit. I think the reason (NOT an excuse) this happened is I posted when I was very tired. I need to limit my posts to weekends. My workdays can be extremely demanding. Blessings to you and your family, Anthony Quote
Moderators LynnDel Posted February 4, 2005 Moderators Posted February 4, 2005 Quote: You make an ass (stupid animal) out of u and me Sorry to veer off topic, Shane, and I don't intend to defend or deny the validity of the point of your post - but I have to jump in and defend my friend, the ass (!) We had a pet one once - we call 'em burros around here - and Reckless was one of the smarter animals we have owned. He kept unlatching the gate and going to visit our neighbors, once frightened a lady on a jog up into an almond tree in the neighbor's orchard, when all Reckless wanted to do was say hi. She didn't come down until we returned from a shopping trip and went on a hunt for Reckless. Once a toddler friend fed Reckless an orange, and in his eagerness to get the orange, he took her whole hand into his mouth, and she couldn't pull her hand away because of the pressure of his teeth. He could have done real damage to the little fingers when he crunched down on the orange, but he just stood there, obviously noting something was different about the feel of this orange, then loosened up, and Bethany retrieved her hand, not even bruised. If you exchanged "stupid" for "stubborn" - I'd totally agree with that. LD Quote LD

The bus driver pointed him out - he is a large white mule - on my only and brief visit to that wonderful place. When Charley is carrying someone on the downward journey he insists on walking as close as possible to the edge of the track. The passenger is terrified and insists on getting off at the first rest stop. So that leaves Charley smiling (well I am sure he must be!!) [:"green"] NORMAL PROGRAMMING CAN NOW RESUME [/] Quote

I agree with you, Planey. The more truth mixed with the lie, the more easily the lie is accepted without question. It's especially dangerous for small children, who cannot yet discern the difference between truth and fiction. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Dr. Shane Posted February 5, 2005 Author Posted February 5, 2005 Yes, I am concerned about the influence of eastern religion in Hollywood and how it can affect our children. Kimba, of course, was created in Japan for the Japanesse so one would espect it to be influenced by eastern religion. I think this just shows how important it is for us to watch what our children are watching so we can discuss it with them. This is a good example of where I have dropped the ball. I have passively watched this program but was not aware the little cub speaks with his dead mother. A parent watching that with their child could easily explain why the creator of the cartoon believes that way and why we don't. The cartoon does teach positive character for children and I suspect that is why it is on a Christian television network. So does anyong think we should write to SkyAngel about this?
