Zeta Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 WOW! Prehaps there would be some sense of empathy if it were some one in your family involved in this situation. What would Jesus do or say to you@! I hope we are all Christians here. Quote Be Blessed.
bonnie Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 WOW! Prehaps there would be some sense of empathy if it were some one in your family involved in this situation. What would Jesus do or say to you@! I hope we are all Christians here. What would Jesus do?? Maybe the same thing God did with Ananias and Sapphira. Empathy has nothing to do with the consequences . First empathy goes to those parents that have to live every day knowing how their son died. The little thugs that did this at least have a chance at salvation. The victim may not have had that time Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Zeta Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 No, Bonnie there is no justice for the victim. You do get it after all. I salute you. Sleep well! Quote Be Blessed.
Members phkrause Posted October 1, 2009 Members Posted October 1, 2009 "The victim may not have had that time" Not sure I believe that Bonnie. If he has never heard of Jesus, than I believe that it will depend on the life that he's lived to this point. This is not saying that I disagree with you, just my feeling about how God deals with all of us. Salvation is already a given, each has to accept it. But those that have not had the chance, I would think that God will deal with them on the quality of there life. Just a thought. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Dr. Shane Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 What is the church doing in the inner cities to decrease gang violence? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Members phkrause Posted October 1, 2009 Members Posted October 1, 2009 Good question Shane. I know that in harlem & brooklyn NY there are a number of churches that do community services in there neighborhoods. Your right it should be us and not the YMCA that is out in the forefront of these things. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. olger Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 David Wilkerson was one of my heros as a boy. Times have changed since then - gotten a little worse (as Paul predicted). And Zeta, you made a good point. Today it is popular to feel empathy for the miscreant, possibly coinciding with Isaiah's prediction that the day would come when earth would call good, evil <----> and evil, good. Could we be seeing the streaks of dawn of this dire human condition? G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
GreatLakesGramma Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I doubt that public hanging would deter gang violence. Gang members already live with the knowledge that they could die at the hands of a rival gang at any time. It doesn't stop them from being in the gang, or doing whatever the gang decides they will. Fellow student, Gramm! There is a world of difference between a serious student and a gang member. Gangs typically hate serious students already. I've read that in Detroit, one of the problems in the schools is that the black gangs consider anyone who tries to do well in school to be "acting white," and thus a traitor to their race. They will kill such students. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis

None of us have any idea of what took place in this young's mans life prior to this incident. Salvation is only a given if accepted. I am sure God does deal with those that have not heard of him on the quality of their life ,I am also sure many die that have and have not accepted. G I have heard that some inner city schools give students two sets of books, one for school and one for home, so that they do not get beat up carrying books between home and school...
