This is obviously now a meaningless prize. So, what other meaningful prizes does President Obama deserve to win? The Cy Young Award for throwing the first pitch at the 2009 All Star Game that almost reached home plate. The Tour de France for riding his mountain bike around Martha's Vineyard without a helmet. The Nobel Prize for Fiction (shared with William Ayers) for inventing a compelling character named Barack Obama in Dreams From My Father who bears no resemblance to the man the world has come to know. The Emmy Award for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Obama's hysterical performance on the creepy David Letterman's show. The Goldman Environmental Prize for producing more carbon dioxide with Air Force One than any other President in their first 10 months in office. We now know that carbon dioxide helps the earth, contrary to the supporters of the hoax of man-made global warming. The trees thank you President Obama! The BET Humanitarian Award for intervening in the racial profiling of the Cambridge, MA, Police Department. Oh, wait, there was no racial profiling by the police, no matter, give the President the award anyway. It will inspire him to do more in the future. The 2016 Olympics Gold Medal for the new event, The Foot In Mouth Competition. The Nobel Prize for Economics for destroying an economy faster than any other leader in recent history. People Magazine's Worst Dressed Celebrity for the homey outfit President Obama wore at the All-Star Game. The Bill Clinton "Is is" Big Lie Award for saying that illegal immigrants would not be covered under Obamacare, and then painting Joe Wilson out to be a liar when he shouted "You lie.” The Benito Mussolini Create a False Crisis Award for: 1) rushing the $787 billion Porkulus bill through Congress even though most of the spending wouldn't occur until the second year; 2) rushing through the bailouts and illegal bankruptcy proceedings for Chrysler and GM; 3) trying to get the Cap and Trade bill through Congress in 3 weeks without public debate; 4) trying to reform America's health care system in three weeks without public debate. Never let a crisis go to waste, even if you have to manufacture a crisis. The Nobel Peace Prize for … uh, he actually won this one. Oops. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. Members phkrause Posted October 10, 2009 Members Posted October 10, 2009 Those are interesting dgrimm. So where are the awards for the previous presidents? I don't know one that hasn't lied to us, did things behind the american people's back, munipulated congress, the UN, other countries, thought they were above the law, etc. Obama is not unique and alone in this is he? pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. In placing someone like he has as safe school czar. With taking over a great portion of the US economy,of his apology tour,of ramming or trying to massive bills thru that no one knows or understands. Members phkrause Posted October 10, 2009 Members Posted October 10, 2009 Good or Bad is relative to each differently Bonnie. In my book I thought that, Kennedy, Ford, Carter, Bush, Clinton, Bush were good and I'm not talking morally, obviously. Because than I'd have to eliminate Kennedy and Clinton. But this would be my list others see different things, to each there own. So we really can't say good or bad. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

But this would be my list others see different things, to each there own. So we really can't say good or bad. pk I wasn't referring to morality in anyway. How the nation did as a whole is more what I meant. Carter as far as economy and most other matters is not viewed as a "good"president. They did not place the nation as a whole in the position we are in today. This is a first for this country. Global warming hype has been with us for years. Hasn't done much in terms of harming the economy. If Obama has his way and I believe he will get his foot in the door at the least it will devastate the US economy. If time is taken to read and see what at least the intent is and what they would like in place there is no way we will survive as a free capitalist nation. Health care is another I believe will go thru. Most haven't a clue as to the intent. Their intent is plainly written. If the health care bill is passed in whatever form it will not be implemented till 2013,I am sure Obama figures it will be after his re-election. However two items will begin immediately after passing, massive taxes in various ways.In addition cuts to medicare begins. Specialists will be required to submit a detailed financial account every year. Those in the top 10% will be penalized. My husband recently racked up a 1,000.00 worth of tests and visits to a specialist. He was diagnosed and treated successfully ,but how willing will the specialists be to continue to lay themselves open to penalties. They were interviewing a small business owner the other day concerning the penalties. He pays 10,000.00 per month in insurance premiums.Under this wonderful savings plan he would have to pay 92,000.00. That automatically puts him and all his employee's out of work. His only recourse is to try to work with a skeleton crew, let the others go, and take the 8% penalty to the government. The 8% is more than he is paying now. This is true throughout the US for small businesses. They are the backbone of this country. My brother has a highly successful business. He went into debt, mortgaged everything he owned and he and his wife worked killer hours to make it. He has many loyal employee's that will be looking for work as my brother simply won't pay it. He can afford to retire as many others can,but in doing so this country will lose what keeps this country moving. My older brother is a over the road trucker. The trucking industry estimates that as of now there are as least 30% more truckers trying to make it as there is freight. Our local hardware is family owned. Has had a thriving business with many long time employee's. If this goes thru with health care he is locking the door. He will be looking for work as his employee's will I didn't live thru the depression but that may look good by comparison with all these wonderful laws our president wants passed Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Members phkrause Posted October 10, 2009 Members Posted October 10, 2009 The only thing I remember that made Carter not a good president in most eyes, was the mishap in Iran. I felt really sorry for him and the burden of guilt he seemed to feel. Maybe poorly planned, who knows? But I do think he tried. What I was referring to was the 21% interest rate. My husband was in the home construction industry and we remember that well and not with fondness. The gas lines also were not a great experience. Members phkrause Posted October 11, 2009 Members Posted October 11, 2009 I've always thought that of all the presidents Carter was the most honest, but that doesn't always mean that you'll do a good job. The 21% interest rate, was that for CCs? I don't remember unemployment problems or gas lines, because when he was president I'd already sold my camaro, which I bought in '68 after getting out of the army, and than Nixon was elected and the gas prices, which I paid about .35 cents a gallon went up to about $1.+ a gallon. Milk which was about .50 cents a gallon went up over a $1 a gallon. And than spending many hours on lines waiting to get gas. And than reading in the paper that the oil tankers were just waiting out at sea trying to bring the oil in. All I remember about that time when Nixon was elected was all prices went up, up, and up. The only reason I remember the gas lines with Nixon is because when Carter was president I no longer own that car. Because in '72 I moved to California and than moved back to NY the same year and had to sell my camaro. I guess that's enough of that, where getting off topic. pk pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Ted Oplinger Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 The only thing I remember that made Carter not a good president in most eyes, was the mishap in Iran. I thought he did the right thing, but you can't predict what happens. I'm pretty sure had the mission succeeded he would have been reelected. pk Hmmm...the "mishap" in Iran was not just one, but series of mis-steps...over the course of 15 months, Carter sold out an (arguably corrupt) ally over a snit on how the Iranians treated Soviet spies caught in the act, and in this way tried to force his meddling into their internal matters. He then promoted the Ayatollah Khomeini into power, thinking his brilliant intellect would allow him to outhink this 7th Century-minded cleric. Carter was out-thought, out-flanked, and overrun when the Ayatollah's revolution invaded the US embassy (an internationally recognized act of war the US has to this day never addressed nor resolved), took the staff hostage, and demonstrated his and the US' impotence to the whole world for over 400 days. That regime led directly to the current Iranian regime we have troubles with today, as it is about to go nuclear with the same Islamic jihad it originally declared war on the US with in 1979. There's also the debacle about how Carter was assured by the USSR leader they weren't going into Afghanistan...the next day, the USSR invaded. Carter was, how did he say it, "so very shocked he'd been lied to"? He was so very naive and weak on the international scene, and too proud to admit it. I can also remember double digit inflation, double digit unemployment, doubling gas prices, the "I lusted in my heart" admission that made him a laughing stock around the world, the selling of the Panama canal (which was quite unpopular), his telling America to put on sweaters to keep warm, rather than increase the supply of electricity, heating oil, and natural gas... Besides all that, maybe he wasn't so bad after all... ...better pull my tongue out of my cheek before I bite it... Schultz confession...or...
